Definition

A tick is a small, recurring increment of time. Within the game, many effects are based on ticks.

For example:

  • A character's endurance recovers over a period of time (zero to full in one minute); and a player would see their Endurance bar refill in small spurts as they recover.
  • A character's health regenerates over a period of time (one to full in four minutes), likewise in a series of small increments that can be seen in their Health bar.
  • Some types of attacks cause Damage over Time, applying damage for a number of ticks as well. Caltrops and Midnight Grasp are examples.

The interval between two ticks is usually constant for most effects or powers, and is typically quite small (often one second). However, ticks for recovery and regeneration come faster together with higher percentages.
