The radio signal suddenly cuts out, presumably from Vernon Von Grun closing the frequency. It sounds as if Overdrive is in some trouble. Normally, you wouldn't give the whole deal of rescuing a hero the time of day, but this seems like another one of a series of scenarios where you might not be able to just walk away. Being ripped apart by Arachnoids is definitely a grim way to go, but having the ''entire'' city crawling with the creatures is going to cause a lot of innocent people to die. You might not be one for heroics, but this seems like a case where someone needs to roll up their sleeves and do some dirty work to get the job done. Dirty work in this case means 'free' work.

Maniacal Laughter

Alignment Mission

You hear nearby the sound of someone laughing madly. You look around, and continue to hear it...

GYAAAH-HAH-HAH-HAH-HAH-HAAAAA!!!!!

You finally spot the source of it. An Arachnos radio on the ground. You pick it up and examine the radio. A voice begins to speak, unaware that you are listening.

AHA! The moment of my daramatic speech! Ahem...

OVERDRIVE! I see you have fallen into my, Vernon Von Grun's, ULTIMATE trap! BAHAHA! You'll find yourself trapped in the sewers beneath Paragon, SURROUNDED by the Arachnoids! You're probably wondering how you were bested. I'll tell you how - through the power of my SCIENCE! Soon all of your city will be overrun by the creatures, and there's NOTHING you can do to stop me!

You might think I'm mad, yut YOU'RE the mad one. Do you see what I did there? A final joke to give to you before you die! GYA-HAHAHA!

... what? ... WHAT? This is being broadcasted over an OPEN FREQUENCY?! Anyone can hear this?!

...

--- GAAAAH! YOU FOO-

Being ripped apart by Arachnoids is definitely a grim way to go, but having the entire city crawling with the creatures is going to cause a lot of innocent people to die. You might not be one for heroics, but this seems like a case where someone needs to roll up their sleeves and do some dirty work to get the job done. Dirty work in this case means 'free' work.

HERO: Save Overdrive and Paragon from the Arachnoids!

Vernon Von Grun's (surprise surprise) mad plan is going to cause those Arachnoids to run loose through the streets of Paragon if something isn't done. There ar plenty of heroes around that could stop that, but not before some serious damage is done. There's also a good chance Vernon Von Grun could get a promotion out of it, which is something that could cause even more problems down the line!

  • Stop Vernon Von Grun's plan and save Overdrive

You're able to find out the location of the sewers from what you overheard on the radio. You'll just have to hope you're not too late to save Overdrive and stop Vernon Von Grun.

Unnecessary Solicitation

You need to get moving if you're going to stop Vernon Von Grun!

Mission Objective(s)

You hear the unnerving sound of Arachnoid's scattering around the sewers.

  • Stop Vernon Von Grun's Arachnoid Invasion!
    • Save Overdrive
    • Speak with Overdrive
    • Disable the first Arachnos device
    • Disable the second Arachnos device
    • Destroy the Arachnoid Chemicals

You've saved Overdrive and stopped Vernon Von Grun's plan to invade Paragon City!

Debriefing

You exit the sewers to see a somewhat recovered Overdrive waiting for you. She extends her hand to you and nods.

'Thanks for the help, Character. Maybe I was wrong about you. Maybe you're not just out for yourself anymore. I hope, for your sake, you'll see how fulfilling this can be.'
