This article is about Arachnos enemy types. For the Epic Archetype, see Arachnos Soldier.
Overview
There are three main soldier types within Arachnos:
- The most basic of Arachnos soldiers
- The Arachnos version of SWAT forces
- Highly specialized reconnaissance and assault troops
Please see each section below for more info available on them as well as notable soldiers of each branch.
Enemy Types
Wolf Spiders
The most basic and lowest of Arachnos forces, and probably the most numerous too. Wolf Spiders are desperate souls and little more than legalized thugs. They have conventional, very basic weapons and armor such as pistols, shotguns and sub-machine guns, in Arachnos version.
Those who show skills and dedication are promoted to the Crab Spiders. In the case of more rare and valuable skills such as psychic powers they can be promoted to the ranks of the Bane Spiders, or those with Mu blood may be transferred to the Mu Mystics.
Few seem to remain in the Wolf Spiders by choice.
Apparently none of the Arachnos Patrons is in command of the Wolf Spiders.
NOTABLE WOLF SPIDERS
Though not technically a Wolf Spider anymore, the brutal bodyguard of Ghost Widow is known to have been once part of the Wolf Spiders, and he still wears the tattered remains of his Wolf Spider uniform as of today.

This clumsy Arachnos soldier shows up in different missions. He can be a Wolf Spider, a Wolf Spider Tac Ops or even a Wolf Spider Huntsman. Though he tries to help, in the end he always get himself caught by the enemy or causes some sort of trouble to the player.

Fires a Heavy Burst of rounds at foes in a long cone in front of the user. Can also reduce the targets' defense.

Wolf Spider Tac Ops
Tactical Operators are Wolf Spiders who have shown keen tactical sense and lead small detachments of Wolf Spiders.

The Nullifier Mace has several different ranged attack modes. The Mace Beam is a moderate damage single target attack with a chance to knock a foe off their feet.

Bosses
Wolf Spider Huntsman
The most brutal and effective members of the Wolf Spiders are eventually promoted to Huntsmen. They're armed and armored for many situations, so tread lightly when they are around.

Shotgun Ranged (Cone), Moderate DMG(Lethal), Foe Knockdown
Good at close range. Fires a cone of buckshot pellets and can knock some foes down.
Frag Grenade Ranged (Targeted AoE), Moderate DMG(Fire/Lethal, Foe Knockback
Launches a Frag Grenade at long range from under the barrel of your rifle. The explosion from this grenade affects all within the blast and can knock them back.
Web Grenade (Only Levels 6-10) Ranged, Foe Immobilize, -Fly, -Recharge, -SPD, -Jump
You have been caught in a web. You cannot move or fly and your attack speed is reduced.
Wide Area Web Grenade (Only Level 11 and up) Ranged (Targeted AoE), Foe Immobilize, -Fly, -Recharge, -SPD, -Jump
You have been caught in a web. You cannot move or fly and your attack speed is reduced.
Venom Grenade (Only Level 21 and up) Ranged (Targeted AoE), Moderate DoT(Toxic), Foe -Resist(All)
This poisonous grenade causes toxic damage over time and weakens the resistance of all foes within the area of effect.
Rifle Butt Melee, Moderate DMG(Smash), Foe Disorient
You can smash your opponents in close combat with the butt of your sub-machine gun to deal minor smashing damage. Pummel has a high chance to disorient your foe for a brief time.
Wolf Spider Armor Auto: Self +Res( S30 L30 P20 ), Prot( Ho 2.0 Im 2.0 St 2.0 Sl 2.0 Co 2.0 Fr 2.0 ), Res( Sl 50% )
Your Wolf Spider Armor provides good protection to Smashing, Lethal and Psionic damage types, as well as offering basic levels of protection to most status effects, including Confuse, Fear, Disorient, Hold, Sleep and Immobilize effects.
Crab Spiders
Arachnos's Crab Spiders are the Rogue Isles' SWAT and are sent in to clean up big problems.
Despite their original looks, the origins the Crab Spiders unit or equipment have never been explained.
The Crab Spiders are under the command of Captain Mako.
NOTABLE CRAB SPIDERS
For some reason, and despite their number, it seems there isn't any notable Crab Spider around.
Ezekial Brass, the adopted son of Marshal Leon Brass used to be a Crab Spider. But due to recent events, he may have become a Tarantula now.
Minions
Crab Spider Slicer
Crab Spiders function much like SWAT teams in other cities, and are dispatched to deal with high-level threats like super-types. They're equipped with full body armor, larger weapons and a set of mechanical spider arms that turn them into death-dealing machines.

Omega Maneuver Summon Omega Bomb: High Accuracy, Ranged (Location Area of Effect), Extreme Damage(Energy/Smash), Foe Disorient
You may use the Arachnos Teleportation system to summon an Omega Bomb in the midst of your enemies. The Omega Bomb immediately sends out a short range psionic signal and hypnotic light display to draw the attention of those nearby, causing them to approach the device. Then it detonates, causing massive damage to all enemies in a wide radius.
Serum Self Heal, +MaxHP
You can activate this power to increase your maximum Hit Points for a short time.
Tactical Training: Assault Toggle, Point Blank Area of Effect, Team +Damage, Res( Pl 1038% Tn 1038% )
While this power is active, you and your nearby teammates deal more damage and are more resistant to Taunt and Placate.
Mental Training Auto, Self +Recharge, +Speed, Prot( Co 3.46 Fr 3.46 )
Your mental training allows you to focus your will, allowing you to move faster than normal, as well as resist slow and confuse effects. This power is always on and permanently increases your attack rate and movement speed.

Bane Spiders
Lord Recluse has had Arachnos gathering psychic children for years, and built two great forces, each army part of his strategy to fully control the forces that destroy all conquerors. The children, their powers are remade: their powers are forced inward. They mind-control themselves, then link themselves to the other Bane Spiders. They are a vast network of self oppression, designed to enforce its own loyalty. (1)
The most trusted and ruthless of them become Lord Recluse's personal guardsmen. (2)
It is known that Bane Spiders are recruited from among the Wolf Spiders, but not if this is always the case.
Apparently, the Bane Spiders are under command of Lord Recluse himself.
NOTABLE BANE SPIDERS
One of the most notable Bane Spiders is also one of the most troublesome. The first Bane Spider to ever break free of Arachnos' mind conditioning, Hugo Figures may well spell the end of Lord Recluse's Bane Spiders.
Virtually nothing is known about Wraith, other than the fact that he was active back in the 60s. Perhaps was one of the first Bane Spiders... or perhaps not.

Bane Spider Commando
Taken from the ranks of the Wolf Spiders, Bane Spider Commandos are given specialized assault training. They are vicious masters of combat that relish engaging the enemies of Arachnos.

Allow you to trick a foe to no longer attack you. A successful Placate will also Hide you. This Hide is very brief, and offers no Defense bonus, but it will allow you to deliver a Critical Hit. However, if you attack a Placated Foe, they will be able to attack you back.
Shatter Melee, Extreme DMG(Smash), Minor DoT(Toxic), Foe Knockback, Critical Hit While Hidden
You attempt to Shatter the bones of your opponent by striking them with all your might. This attack will deal great damage and can knock foes back a great ways.
OR
Clobber Melee, Extreme DMG(Smash), Minor DoT(Toxic), Foe Disorient, Critical Hit While Hidden
You Clobber your foe's head in order to Disorient him. This attack does extreme damage on its own, and can leave most opponents Disoriented for a very long time.
Cloaking Device Toggle: Self Stealth, +Def( S3.75% L3.75% F3.75% C3.75% E3.75% N3.75% ), +Def( M3.75% R3.75% A3.75% )
Cloaking Device makes you almost impossible to detect. When you attack or are damaged while using this power, you will be discovered. Even if discovered, you are hard to see and retain some bonus to Defense.
Combat Training Auto: Self +ToHit, Prot( Co 5.19 Fr 5.19 ), Res( Co 39.96% Fr 39.96% ), +Perception
Your accuracy is improved.

Whirling Mace PBAoE Melee, Moderate DMG(Smash), Minor DoT(Toxic), Foe Disorient, Chance for Critical Hit
You swing your mace in a circle all around you, attacking everyone in melee range. Your Whirling Mace deals moderate damage and minor Toxic damage over time, and has a chance to Disorient every foe you hit.
Crowd Control Melee (Cone), High DMG(Smash), Minor DoT(Toxic), Foe Knockback, Chance for Critical Hit
You swing your mace in a wide arc in front of you. This attack strikes all foes within melee range, deals them serious damage and minor Toxic damage over time, and knocks them down.
Poisonous Ray Burst Ranged (Targeted AoE), High DoT(Toxic), Foe -DEF
You fire a Poisonous Ray from your mace causing damage over time as reducing the target's defense.
Mace Beam Volley Ranged (Cone), Light DMG(Energy), Foe Knockback
The Nullifier Mace can fire a volley of energy at all foes in front of the user. The Mace Beam Volley is a Moderate damage area of effect cone attack with a chance to knock foes off their feet.
Mace Beam Blast Ranged (Targeted AoE), Light DMG(Energy), Foe Knockback
The Nullifier Mace is capable of firing a tremendous bolt of force from the end of it. The Mace Beam Blast is a Light damage area of effect attack, foes struck by the blast may be knocked back.
Wide Area Web Grenade Ranged (Targeted AoE), Foe Immobilize, -Recharge, -Fly, -SPD, -Jump
Upon impact, the Web Grenade expels a strong, tenuous, and very sticky substance that can Immobilize most targets. This non-lethal device deals no damage and does not prevent targets from attacking, although their attack rate is Slowed. The Web can bring down flying entities and halts jumping.
Web Cocoon Ranged, Foe Hold, -Recharge, -Fly, -Jump, -SPD
The Bane Mace can fire a more powerful version the common web grenade. The sinewy fibers of this grenade are strong enough to completely Hold one target. Targets able to resist the Hold are still likely to have their attack and movement speed dramatically slowed. Web Cocoon can also bring down flying targets and prevent foes from jumping.

When this power is activated, you focus your senses to analyze your targets defensive capabilities and discover their weaknesses. By sharing your knowledge of the targets weaknesses with your team mates, you effectively reduce their defense and resistance to damage.
Tactical Training: Leadership Toggle, Point Blank Area of Effect, Team +ToHit, Prot( Co 5.19 Fr 5.19 ), Res( Co 60.55% Fr 60.55% ), +Perception
