This article contains information about a past event in City of Heroes/Villains. It is provided for historical purposes.

The event ran from October 18th through November 2nd [1].

Overview

The Halloween Event for 2006 expanded on the 2004 event. In addition to Trick or Treating for enemy defeat badges, Event Salvage was added to the treats, which could be turned in for a free costume slot. As with the 2004 event, the Croatoa Giant Monsters Eochai spawned throughout the game (including the City of Villains zones), but was joined by Jack in Irons, and they awarded their own special Halloween badges.

The event ran in all zones in the game except Recluse's Victory, The Hive, Cascade Archipelago, The Chantry, and The Storm Palace.

Eternal Night

During the event, the entire game was locked in nighttime mode. This was not just a visual effect. All aspects of the game that depended on a day/night cycle were locked to the night side during the event. Enemies that only spawn at night spawned continuously during the event. Banisher, The Slayer, and Haunted badges (Hero side) and Pirate and Spectral badges (Villain side) are examples of badges for which hunting was much easier during the event.

Note that some zones, such as The Hive, were unaffected by Eternal Night.

Trick or Treat

Main article: Trick or Treat

If a door was successfully knocked, then either a treat was awarded in the form of inspirations or costume salvage, or else a trick was pulled, which spawned Halloween-specific enemies from the clicked door.
