Overview
The Archetype is the most fundamental choice made while creating a character. It determines which powers are - and aren't - available for the lifetime of the character. Archetype, along with origin and Primary Power Sets and Secondary Power Sets, cannot be changed after character creation.
Each archetype will play slightly different than all other archetypes, even archetypes that utilize the same power sets. More information on an archetype's "style" can be found on each archetype page.
Archetypes
The following eight archetypes are available for Free Players, Premium Players, and VIP Players:
The following two premium archetypes are available for VIP Players, Premium Players who have completed Tier 5 of the Paragon Rewards Program (13 Reward Tokens), and Premium Players who have purchased them from the Paragon Market:
The following two premium "Hero Epic Archetypes" (HEAT) are available for VIP Players and Premium Players who have purchased them from the Paragon Market, assuming the account has at least one hero above level 20:
The following two premium "Villain Epic Archetypes" (VEAT) are available for VIP Players and Premium Players who have purchased them from the Paragon Market, assuming the account has at least one villain above level 20:
Praetorian Archetypes
All archetypes except the Epic Archetypes are available to begin in Praetoria for all VIP Players, and for any Premium Players who have either applied a Going Rogue retail code to their account or have purchased Praetorian Access from the Paragon Market. For a Premium Player, beginning a Controller or Mastermind in Praetoria also requires those premium archetypes to be unlocked, as noted above.
Note that Praetorian characters who reach level 20 and become a hero or villain do not count toward unlocking the Epic Archetypes.
