Level 1-7

There's a scientist that works at SERAPH, his name is Aaron Thiery. Matthew Habashy said he might be able to help regarding the situation with Arachnos in Atlas Park. He'd like for you to go talk to him to see what you can find.

SERAPH is always trying to help out with things here in Atlas. I know you can help them out, Character! Just watch out for Thiery, I've heard he's a little... weird.

Information

PPD Officer

Officer Fields was a recruit fresh out of the academy when the meteors hit Galaxy City. He performed bravely during the incident and was assigned to patrol the area of the Promenade right after the incident. Officer Fields is eager to prove himself to everyone in the PPD, though he'll need the help of a hero if he's going to handle what comes up in Paragon City.

Initial Contact

Hi, you're Character, right? Matthew Habashy told me all about you, how much you helped with the Hellions in Atlas Plaza and Prometheus Park.

I'm glad you're here, we've got nothing but trouble over here in the Promenade. This place was once known for its theaters and music halls, but many of them have closed over the past few years due to the high rates of crime.

Things aren't getting any better with what just happened.

  • What's going on?

  • Let's get to the bottom of this, Character!
  • Nothing can get much worse after Galaxy. Right?

Lifetime Movie Pass

You received this lifetime movie pass to the movie theater in Atlas Park after defending it from the Vahzilok. It reminds you of a series of event you've come to know as...

No More Fears

It all started when Matthew Habashy introduced you to Officer Fields, a PPD recruit from Galaxy City who needed help with a murder case in the Promenade. You went to the crime scene and found out that there were some witnesses who saw what happened, but were too afraid to speak up, believing that the PPD was unable to protect them. You convinced the witness that you and the PPD could keep her safe and discovered that the murder was carried out by the Vahzilok. You went into one of their lairs in the sewers to clear them out and found the Vahzilok were going to be targeting people attending a charity play in the Promenade!

You immediately went to the movie theater to warn the manager, Victoria Manuel, about the dangers. She seemed to be confident in your abilities to handle the situation on your own, despite the fact that she herself was super-powered and could help you. Regardless, you were off to push back the Vahzilok nearby and found a note from Dr. Vahzilok himself. It seems that the Vahzilok were targeting people who had survived the Galaxy Incident, believing that there was something special about being exposed to the Shivan meteors and that a man named Botte was handling everything going on. Officer Fields believed this to be a man named Joseph Botte, the brother of the man who was previously killed.

Fields provided you with the location of where Botte may be located, along with the people who have already been kidnapped. You stormed the sewers and rescued the hostages before the Vahzilok could carve them up. You then confronted Joseph Botte, who revealed his motives behind all of this: he was simply afraid, and Dr. Vahzilok promised him a way to immortality, a life where he wouldn't have to be afraid anymore. You put a stop to Botte's operation, saving the Promenade from the mad schemes of Dr. Vahzilok.

Officer Fields thanked you for all your help and believed this was the last of the problems in the Promenade. Looking back, the real source of all these problems was Dr. Vahzilok; he preyed on the fears of the people, using them for his own scientific ends. You have to wonder, did he even care to alleviate the fears of Botte and the others who survived the Galaxy Incident, or was this all just being done in the name of his own mad scientific research?

Part One: The List

Briefing

Well, we've got a murder case on our hands. Larry Botte, an actor known throughout the Promenade, was found dead in front of a nearby office complex. The real shame is that his brother, Joseph Botte, has also gone missing since the meteors hit Galaxy.

I was going to investigate it myself, see if there was any connection, but, well, I still get kind of sick around bodies. I haven't formed that hardened cop fortitude yet.

But I was top in my class, Character, and I can smell something bigger brewing here. And I don't like it one bit.

  • Well... what are you 'smelling'?

Mission Acceptance

Larry was playing a big role in a charity play being put on for victims of the Galaxy Incident.

I think someone doesn't want that event to go off. The one thing that bugs me is why, who would want to stop something that's just trying to help people.

Anyway, you should go speak with Detective Pierce and investigate the crime scene. I'll be here following up on any leads that might arise.

Unnecessary Soliciation

Nothing here on my end so far, Character.

Mission Objective(s)

  • Speak with Detective Pierce

Unnecessary Soliciation

Pierce was always kind of a jerk, but we're all on the same side, right? Sigh...

Mission Objective(s)

  • Speak with the witness of the murder

Clue
The Vahzilok Murders

The witness at the crime scene told you about a gruesome scene, in which the Vahzilok killed Larry Botte, took his kidney, then retreated back to a nearby sewer system.

Unnecessary Soliciation

I wish the people had more faith in us like they used to, Character. But at least you're around to help out!

Mission Objective(s)

  • Go to the sewers where the Vahzilok were last seen

Unnecessary Soliciation

The Vahzilok are a vicious group, Character. Be careful down there.

Mission Objective(s)

  • Take the fight to the Vahzilok in the sewers
    • Defeat 10 Vahzilok

You defeated the Vahzilok and discovered their plans!

Enemies

Vahzilok
Clue
A Gathering of Parts

You fought off a group of Vahzilok in the sewers and found a document titled, 'List of attendees'. It looks to be a list of the people attending the charity play in the Promenade, including the actors!

Next to each of their names is a body part, presumably the one that the Vahzilok are after.

Debriefing

What did you find in those sewers, Character? ...?! A list of body parts to be taken from the attendees of the play?! That's not good at all! ... Well, obviously that's not good at all, I probably didn't have to say it.

I just hope that their leader, Dr. Vahzilok, isn't in on this. The guy's a total nutcase, he thinks he's working to make the world a better place by making these abominations from the body parts of people!

We need to warn the manager of the theater about the Vahzilok and make sure to stop them. That charity event needs to happen, Character, we have to help the people of Galaxy!

Part Two: Responsibility

Briefing

The safest thing to do in this situation would be to stop the charity event. The Vahzilok clearly want to launch a major attack on it.

But the people left over from Galaxy need this event, Character. We have to make sure this goes off without a hitch.

The remaining PPD are going to do their best to play security, but we need everyone on our side. I think the manager of the theater might be able to help.

  • What do you mean?

Mission Acceptance

The theater manager, a woman named Victoria Manuel, is a retired hero. Well, 'retired' is a strong word. She's barely in her thirties, but she gave up on the whole hero gig.

I'd see if you can talk to her and convince her to help us out while also trying to run the charity event. The more people we have helping us out, the better.

I'm going to try to see if I can find any clues as to why the Vahzilok would want to target these people specifically and who might be behind all of this.

Unnecessary Soliciation

I've got nothing yet here, Character. How about you?

Mission Objective(s)

  • Speak with Victoria Manuel

Unnecessary Soliciation

They're already near the theater?! That's faster than I thought. You have to take care of the Vahzilok, Character!

Mission Objective(s)

  • Push back the Vahzilok near Victoria Manuel's theater
    • Defeat 10 Vahzilok

You stopped the Vahzilok and found a clue about their plans!

Enemies

Vahzilok
Clue
Examining the Bodies

After fighting with the Vahzilok in the streets of Paragon, you discovered one of them had a hand-written note from Dr. Vahzilok himself...

'Botte will be the first to be tested. Those who have survived the Galaxy Incident will have, undoubtedly, been exposed in some way to the Shivans or to the meteors.

We must see what effects this can have on the human person, and if possible, how it can be used to improve our current procedures. Report everything you find to Botte.

Dr. Vahzilok.'

Debriefing

Good to see you made it back in one piece, Character. What did you find?

Whoa, a note from Dr. Vahzilok himself! And what's this about Botte?! Larry Botte is dead! Unless... his brother Joseph! This is getting crazier by the minute.

On the one hand, at least Dr. Vahzilok's goal isn't a moustache-twirling plot to destroy the charity event. On the other hand, he seems to be putting his own 'scientific' goals above the well-being of those people!

Finale: No Guarantee

Briefing

This all adds up, Character. While you were gone, I was doing some digging and found some very odd spikes in power usage in a specific part of the sewer system.

I'm betting that Joseph Botte is in there with the Vahzilok, performing various experiments, and that is probably where they have the people they've already kidnapped!

  • Then there's no time to lose.

Mission Acceptance

Right! Here's the location of the sewer system.

I don't know what drove Joseph Botte to this, but it's up to you to stop it. Let's hope you can save the hostages down there just like you saved the hostages from the Hellions.

I'd be careful, if I were you. You're walking deep into Vahzilok territory.

Unnecessary Solicitation

The charity event is safe, for now, but the Vahzilok could attack it at any moment!

Mission Objective(s)

A putrid smell fills the sewers. It definitely isn't the smell of sewage - you probably don't want to know what exactly the smell is.

  • Stop the Vahzilok plot against the Promenade
    • Rescue the actors, Defeat Joseph Botte, Destroy the Vahzilok Life Machine to remove Botte's invulnerability, Exit out into Atlas Park

You stopped the Vahzilok and found a clue about their plans!

Enemies

Vahzilok

Notable NPCs

Debriefing

You did it, Character! The hostages are being taken care of right now. Joseph Botte will be sitting in prison for a very long time, and the charity event is going off as we speak!

I almost feel bad for Botte. Dr. Vahzilok took advantage of his fear after the Galaxy Incident... but to think of how desperate Botte must have been... killing your own brother for your safety?!

I'm happy we have people like you in the city, Character, to show us that we can be safe in this world without having to go to such extreme measures. ... Well, there's also us in the PPD, too. But it's always good to have a super-powered hero to have our backs!
