The Summer Blockbuster Double Feature trial consists of two missions themed after movie plots (Time Gladiator and The Casino Heist) that require unique tactics to succeed. It grants special badges, and players may choose a random enhancement from the Overwhelming Force set as a reward. Unlike most other activities in the game, it has a fixed team size: four participants. Heroes, Villains, and Praetorians (or mixed teams) may participate provided the team starts from a zone they all can access. In spite of the name, it is available all year round.

In order to participate, players form a team then enter the Theater Lobby instance via the LFG Menu interface. They always play both movie plots, but which comes first is random. Characters must be at least level 15 to participate and high-level characters will be exemplared down to level 29 for this trial.

Summer Trial: Blockbuster Double Feature
Required Number of Players: 4
Objectives: There's no better time than the middle of the Summer to go to the movies! Explosions, romance, explosions, action, explosions, suspense and explosions; the Summer Movie Season has it all. Get some popcorn and a soda, settle back and beat the heat this season with new Summer blockbusters shown at your neighborhood Paragon City Cinema. In The Casino Heist a group of four brilliant criminals attempt to knock over the famous Golden Giza Casino. In Time Gladiator, a group of scientists find themselves transported through time to Ancient Rome where they must fight for their lives upon the sands of the Coliseum as the most brutal fighters across all of history attempt to defeat them!

Characters lower than level 30 will receive the temporary power Sneaked In! throughout the trial.

You sneaked into the theater showing Time Gladiators or Casino Heist despite its rating. The excitement of sneaking in without getting caught has inspired you, granting you bonuses to your damage potential, resistance, defenses and accuracy.

Time Gladiator

Main Article: Time Gladiator

You are thrust through time into a time-lost gladiatorial arena. To escape, you must defeat the three champions of the coliseum and their bizarre and dangerous henchmen. Waiting for the most brilliant and deadly of combatants, at the end of it all, is the great God-Champion. Deadly assassins, gun-slinging outlaws, cybernetic soldiers, and mythical monsters come at you tooth and nail in a frenzied and ferocious battle! Sway the arena's crowd with your ferocity or cleverness to gain valuable buffs in this quintessential combat set piece.

The Casino Heist

A vast fortune hides behind the doors of the Tyrant's Palace Casino. With the right plan and a smart crew, this job could set you up for life. The only things in your way are armed guards, a state-of-the-art security system, and an impenetrable vault. It's time for a no-holds-barred battle for fistfuls of cash! Form a crew with a hitter, a hacker, a grifter, and a thief. Each team member has a unique role and abilities that let you pull off the biggest job ever!

By choosing this reward, you receive one enhancement from the Overwhelming Force Attuned Enhancement Set. This is a Universal Damage set - It can be slotted into any power that accepts damage enhancements. You may choose the reward once every 20 hours.

• Reward Merits

By choosing this reward, you will receive 8 Reward Merits.

• Inspirations

By choosing this reward, you receive a random Inspiration.

History

• The Summer Blockbuster Double Feature first ran as a Summer Event Trial from June 27, 2012 to July 30, 2012, and ran again from October 5, 2012 to October 8, 2012.
• In Issue 25 the trial was made available year round.
