:::This is all moot now.  As of i14, all storage objects (bins) cost rent.  If you have any sort of storage, even on the smallest plot, the base costs rent.  The only way to build a rentless base is to not have any storage at all (no enhancements tables, vaults, salvage racks, inspiration collectors, etc.) on the smallest plot available.  The article needs to be extensively rewritten, this is not the only information in it that is now obsolete. What's the "Rentless Base"? Is the OP suggesting that you can set up the base, and have the current SG Leader just never sign on? --Granny? 19:25, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

The text immediately after the "Rentless Base" header explains it: "As the name suggests, a base design that gets everything it can out of the smallest plot size to avoid ever having to pay rent on the base." If you don't upgrade the plot size, you don't have to pay rent. A lot of super groups use this to their advantage by putting as much functionality as they can in the initial plot. --GuyPerfect 22:28, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
o,o what Guy said. Also, the effect of never having your leader log in would be: A) the sg base (plot size 2 and up) would loose power, then eventually be shut down. B) The autodemotion would lower the leader to the rank under leader and promote someone.
Please also note that anything in the Player Guides section is a personal work by one or two ppl that may contain opinions, or incorrect info and are merely hosted here to be helpful. So please don't take what they say as absolutely correct as the facts and information in them may not be correct (I should point out that I'm the one who started this one too. The full warning is on the category page). --Sleepy Kitty 07:28, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
Yep I actually run 2 SGs that are rentless. Along with 4 friends, all with serious altitis, we formed the Sisterhood of KFKA in June 2007 and by September had run out of rooms. At that point we had 2 options 1) go to the next sized plot and start paying rent or 2) start a 2nd base and add additional TP, ect there. We went with option 2 and as we celebrated our first full year as an SG both bases have 9 rooms, we can teleport to all 21 zones in the game, both have personal storage vaults and invention workstations for crafting, Pillars of Ice and flame for time travel and all of the usual base extras. This past week the Sisterhood base got the badge required and added an auto-doc. Takes a little time to accomplish but what's nice is .. we could all take months off for RL and when we came back the base would still be up and running since we never have to worry about paying the landlord!
