Overview

Salvage EnhancementConverter.png

Enhancement Converters can be used to convert Archetype and Invented enhancements that a player may not want to a random enhancement from the same set, the same rarity, or the same "category" that the enhancement came from. They were introduced shortly after the release of Issue 22.

Converters can be used by clicking on "Convert" on the enhancement tray.

Enhancement Converters cannot be used on Common IOs, SOs, DOs, TOs, or any of the Special Enhancements.

Description

Enhancement Converters can be used to convert an enhancement to another within the same rarity (Uncommon, Rare, Very Rare, PvP or Archetype Origin Enhancement) or category (Melee Damage, Healing, Resist Damage, etc.). Alternatively, this salvage can be used to convert an enhancement within the same set for three times the cost in Enhancement Converters. You can access your enhancement converter interface by clicking on Enhancement on your power tray and then clicking on Convert.

Available Conversions

Convert within Set
(3 Converters)
Convert within Rarity
(1 Converter)
Convert within Category
(2 Converters)
Set IO Any IO within its Set other than itself Any other Set IO of same Rarity other than one from its own Set Any other IO of the same level from with its Category regardless of Rarity. Choice not given if none exists.
Purple IO Any Purple within its Set other than itself Any other Purple except one from its own Set N/A
PvP IO Any PvP within its Set other than itself Any other PvP except one from its own Set N/A
ATE Any ATE within its Set other than itself Any other ATE except one from its own Set N/A
Superior ATE Any Superior ATE within its Set other than itself Any other Superior ATE except one from its own Set N/A
  • Enhancement Converters can turn any Set Enhancement (even Boosted ones) into a different Enhancement from that same Set for 3 Converters.
  • Converters can turn any Set Enhancement into one from a different Set but with the same rarity for 1 Converter. An Uncommon piece could turn into any other Uncommon piece, but wouldn't turn into a Rare piece, nor would it turn into a Purple or PVP IO, or ATE.
  • For Uncommon and Rare IOs, there is a Category conversion where the IO turns into an Enhancement from another Set within its own Slotting Category (e.g., Melee, Healing, Ranged, etc...), as long as it exists at the level of the converted IO. Note that these conversions cannot become Very Rare (Purple) IOs, PVP IOs, or Winter Pack enhancements.

Source

Enhancement Converters can be purchased starting at level 10 from Reward Merit Vendors, at a price of 3 Converter for 1 Reward Merit.

Enhancement Converters can also be received as a random drop from defeated enemies.

Historical

This section contains information that no longer applies to the current version of City of Heroes/Villains. It is provided for historical purposes.

  • When Issue 22 was released, a bug prevented Enhancement Converters from being purchased from Astral, Empyrean, and Alignment Merit Vendors. This bug was fixed in a patch on April 10th, 2012. Additionally, Archvillain ranked enemies were given a chance to drop Enhancement Converters at the same time.
  • The store-bought enhancement rarity, for enhancements bought from microtransactions, is not used on Homecoming.
