Overview
You aren't 'super' at all; your amazing talents come from intense training and innate abilities. You might have been driven to physical excellence by some all-encompassing desire for perfection or revenge, or perhaps you are not human at all, and possess powers natural to your race. With your natural origin you have to rely on your cunning and skill. This origin will give you access to Throwing Knives. This attack has a very short range and deals minor Lethal damage, as well as inflicting additional Damage over Time.
Initial Contacts
All Peacebringers are of natural origin, and a Peacebringer's initial contact is Sunstorm.
Origin does not affect the initial contact of villains.
Enhancements
Heroes and villains of natural origin may only use natural dual-origin or single-origin enhancements. These enhancements are normally obtained by heroes in the Image, Inc. or Future Dynamics stores spread throughout the city, or by certain high-level contacts. Villains normally obtain natural-origin enhancements from the Natural Quartermasters. Some lower-level contacts also sell natural-origin enhancements, but at an inflated cost.
The Throwing Knives Power
Natural heroes and villains receive the Throwing Knives power.
Natural Origin Titles
All heroes and villains have two opportunities to select titles for their character; once at level 15, and once at level 25. The second title is origin-specific.
Heroes may select their second title from among the following list: Accomplished, Brave, Captivating, Death Defying, Estimable, Fabulous, Grim, Horrifying, Insightful, Lone, Mysterious, Obdurate, Peerless, Resolute, Sublime, Talented, Unfathomable, Virtuous, and Wary.
Villains may select their second title from among the following list: Abominable, Bloodthirsty, Callous, Devious, Elusive, Fiendish, Grisly, Horrid, Insidious, Kamikaze, Larcenous, Maniacal, Oppressive, Pretentious, Raging, Subversive, Tyrranical, Unseen, Violent, and Warlike.
Past Relevance
In the alpha version of City of Heroes, a hero's origin played a much bigger part of the game than it did upon the game's release.
Future Plans
There has been wide speculation that in the future, there may be missions specific to a hero's or villain's origin; however, these reports are currently unconfirmed.
Historical
- Prior to Issue 21, most heroes of natural origin would begin their adventures in Paragon City by contacting ELITE, an organization that specializes in working with heroes of natural origin. Heroes of natural origin will have either Susan Davies in Atlas Park or Derek Amberson in Galaxy City as their initial contact, depending on which zone he or she selects as his or her beginning zone.
