Overview

Reward Token

Reward Tokens are spent within the Paragon Rewards Program to permanently unlock items, costumes, powers, and perks that are otherwise restricted by subscription or purchase through the Paragon Market. They are earned by having paid for subscription time to City of Heroes, City of Villains or City of Heroes Freedom, now or in the past, and can also be earned by buying Paragon Points.

Reward Token Acquisition

VIP Players
  • VIP Players are given one Reward Token per month of paid subscription time and one additional Reward Token for every full 12 months of paid subscription time.
    • These tokens are available immediately after paying. For example, buying a 12 month subscription plan immediately credits 13 reward tokens to your account (12 "monthly" tokens plus the one "year" token).
  • VIP Players are granted one Reward Token for spending $15 on the Paragon Market, which equates to 1,200 Paragon Points.
Premium Players
  • Premium Players who were previous subscribers will gain a variable number of reward tokens based on previous paid subscription time.
  • Premium Players are granted one Reward Token for spending $15 on the Paragon Market, which equates to 1,200 Paragon Points.
Free Players
  • Free Players are granted one reward token with account creation.
    • Note that Free Players cannot progress beyond this level. Progression requires purchasing Paragon Points or subscribing.

Converting from Veteran Rewards Program

For a veteran from before City of Heroes Freedom launch, it takes a basic formula to calculate the number of tokens an account will have.

N/4 + N/12 + B (N = Number of months subscribed; round down) (B = 1 if a retail code is applied; B = 0 if no retail code has been applied)

For those who prefer not to have to do the math above, you can simply add up your veteran rewards badges, add one additional token for every four veteran badges, plus one token if a retail code has been applied to your account. (To clarify the difference, players who started with a Buddy Code from Valentine's Day 2006 theoretically can have never applied a retail code, and still have a valid account.)

You can find the tier you are entitled to by finding your highest veteran reward on the following table:

Veteran to Paragon Rewards conversion
Tier Veteran badges
Tier 9 VIP Tier 9 status + being a current subscriber.
Tier 9 84+ Month Veteran Rewards players.
Tier 8 66, 69, 72, 75, 78, 81 Month Veteran Rewards players.
Tier 7 48, 51, 54, 57, 60, 63 Month Veteran Rewards players.
Tier 6 33, 36, 39, 42, 45 Month Veteran Rewards players.
Tier 5 21, 24, 27, 30 Month Veteran Rewards players.
Tier 4 12, 15, 18 Month Veteran Rewards players.
Tier 3 6, 9 Month Veteran Rewards players.
Tier 2 Premium Players, 3 Month Veteran Rewards players.
Tier 1 Free to Play players that have not purchased anything.

Reward months listed in blue grant an additional token for the yearly bonus.
