Overview

City of Heroes is a Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG). It was created by Cryptic Studios and published by NCsoft. NCsoft managed all operations of the game, including the game servers and player accounts. NCsoft bought Cryptic's half of the game in 2007, forming Paragon Studios with most of the development team (nearly all of the Freem Fifteen), and expanding the company greatly. At the time of closure, Paragon Studios employed 84 people, but only some of them worked on City of Heroes.

City of Heroes' closure was announced on August 31, 2012, and the final server (Beta Server) went offline at 12:14am, December 1, 2012 PST.

City of Heroes: Homecoming came online April 24th, 2019.
