Listing of merchandise licensed, sold or given away by NCsoft and Cryptic Studios that involves the City of Franchise.

  • Add note about PlayNC selling physical good in North America till mid 2006, EU still does.
  • possible note about NCsoft asking for merchandise ideas back in 2004, but later abandoning the idea of selling items based on the IP
  • Someone needs to raid the Korean store for merchandise images and info.
  • Starting in 2008, the 'City of' Franchise's store at conventions has been referred to as "Wentworth's Store"

City of Heroes comic books were produced by three different companies from 2002-2007: Dark Horse Comics (one-issue preview), Blue King Studios (12-issue series), and Top Cow Productions (20-issue series).

Alderac Entertainment produced the City of Heroes Collectible Card Game in 2005, with an expansion set, Secret Origins, in 2006. The game has been discontinued.

Two novels were published by CDS Books: "The Web of Arachnos," by Robert Weinberg, was released in October, 2005, and "The Freedom Phalanx," by Robin D. Laws, was released in April, 2006. A third novel, "The Rikti War," was planned from the beginning of the series, but was eventually abandoned.

A collection of concept art and other images from the development of the game. Villain cover and content on one side, Hero cover and content on the other. Included with the City of Villains Collector's Edition.

Sketchbook

This sketchbook was produced in May, 2008, by Draw the World Together, a project that creates possibilities for children through art, as a charitable fundraiser for EveryChild. The 32-page book featured sketches of prominent CoX characters contributed by 22 artists, including Dave Gibbons, Doug Braithwaite, Al Davison, Andrew Wildman, and David Nakayama. Limited to 500 copies.

A hand painted resin statue that stands at a height of 23cm. These statues are available from the EU store, but have only been seen in America in background sections of developer office photos and a single one that was sold on eBay as part of a 2007 winter charity event.

Pen-shaped LED flashlights with filters built in so that they project the Hero or Villain logo on walls or other flat surfaces. Introduced for the 2009 convention run at $8.00 apiece, they returned in 2010 and have also been given out with most major official contests since their introduction.

Pint glasses featuring the Hero or Villain logos. These glass cups were available starting in 2009 at NCsoft convention booths and were purchasable for $5 each.

Awesome Button

A button based on an advertising skit done by RoosterTeeth for Paragon Studios to promote the Architect Edition of the game. Most likely a parody of Staples' 'easy button' ads. Sold at NCsoft attended cons in 2009 and 2010 for $4 each.

Shirt Pins with various Hero archetype logos on them. Available at NCsoft attended conventions in 2008, 2009, and 2010. Individual pins in 2009 and 2010 cost $4.00, with the whole set (8 pins) costing $25.00.

Please note that there are 2 versions of this pin set. The 2008 variety were fairly normal metal pins but only came in the original Archetypes with no Epics. For 2009, the 5th anniversary of the game, nicer metal ones with 2 prong backs and a silvery border were produced.
