Talk:List of Player Suggested Features
I'm a little skeptical of a lot of these. I mean, just because a player suggested them at some point doesn't necessarily mean that was why it was implemented. I know that the devs say that they take player suggestions, but I sure would feel a lot better if these were cited as to where the player suggestion to developer implementation link actually existed. --TonyV 13:19, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
- The big problem is that except for very recent suggestions, they're all deleted by forum purges. While it's certainly possible that a number of these are incorrect, or that they were features already being worked on when a player suggested them, the only way to know is to ask the devs outright, and they may not even know themselves.
- I think the best course of action is to use common sense to what's plausible, perhaps combined with a disclaimer at the top about how accurate the list can possibly be. --Fleeting Whisper 03:08, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
- Some things in the list weren't specifically suggested by players (eg, Geas of the Kinds Ones), but a suggestion led to it (in the previous example, I believe the suggestion was to have an accolade badge contained within a zone, and every part of Geas is obtained in Croatoa) --Fleeting Whisper 03:10, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
Sadly I can't prove it was my suggestion that did it, and my post has long since vanished into the internet ether, but I suggested that the process of generating 2D images that the game uses for character portraits on the contact, info, and costume windows be threaded so that the game would not freeze up when opening the contact window. I PMed a few devs about it, and lo and behold, a few months later it was implemented. Worth a mention?

During the Issue 13 beta, when they added several new IO sets (the Accurate Heal and Accurate Debuff sets, Recharge Intensive Pet sets, and new Hold and PBAoE sets that had much more +Recharge in them), people were complaining that we were yet again getting a bunch of sets that threw Positional Defense set bonuses around, mostly neglecting Typed Defense.
In one of the threads, I stated that it was too frustrating to try and cover 7 Defense Types, while Positional Defense only had to cover 3. I suggested that all Smashing Defense bonuses should also come with Lethal Defense bonuses and vice versa, same with Fire and Cold, and Energy and Negative Energy. Psionic Defense was beneficial to both types of Defense (Typed and Positional) and so should be left on it's own. That way, both Typed and Positional would more or less only have to aim for getting 4 types of bonuses (either S/L, F/C, E/N, and Psi, or Melee, Ranged, AoE, and Psi).
Another player (the name of whom I wish I could remember) said they should take it one step further and make it so that all Melee bonuses came with half-strength S/L bonuses and vice versa, same with Ranged and E/N, and AoE and F/C. That way, all Defense Bonuses could work with any +Defense power.
I think it was only 1 or 2 patches in to beta that both suggestions were implemented and we've had them ever since. Unfortunately, this all happened on the Issue 13 secret beta forums (the all white ones that were testing the vBulletin stuff) and so none of it is saved anywhere. But I remember it! - While there may not be a way to "prove it" I don't see it being a problem to add in a bit about that to the page. User:Thirty7/Sig 16:25, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
