Tables from Google sheet
Most of the icons on the Google sheet have been uploaded to the site, so I wrote a Python script to take the texture names from the Google sheet and created a series of collapsible tables that allows the icons and examples to be shown here on the wiki without having to go to the Google sheet. Here's an example for the archetype icons:
Image | Texture Name | Macro example |
---|---|---|
archetypeicon_blaster | /macro_image "archetypeicon_blaster" "Tooltip" "Command" | |
archetypeicon_controller | /macro_image "archetypeicon_controller" "Tooltip" "Command" | |
archetypeicon_defender | /macro_image "archetypeicon_defender" "Tooltip" "Command" | |
archetypeicon_guardian | /macro_image "archetypeicon_guardian" "Tooltip" "Command" | |
archetypeicon_peacebringer | /macro_image "archetypeicon_peacebringer" "Tooltip" "Command" | |
archetypeicon_scrapper | /macro_image "archetypeicon_scrapper" "Tooltip" "Command" | |
archetypeicon_sentinel | /macro_image "archetypeicon_sentinel" "Tooltip" "Command" | |
archetypeicon_tanker | /macro_image "archetypeicon_tanker" "Tooltip" "Command" | |
archetypeicon_warshade | /macro_image "archetypeicon_warshade" "Tooltip" "Command" | |
v_archetypeicon_arachnos_soldier | /macro_image "v_archetypeicon_arachnos_soldier" "Tooltip" "Command" | |
v_archetypeicon_arachnos_widow | /macro_image "v_archetypeicon_arachnos_widow" "Tooltip" "Command" | |
v_archetypeicon_brute | /macro_image "v_archetypeicon_brute" "Tooltip" "Command" | |
v_archetypeicon_corruptor | /macro_image "v_archetypeicon_corruptor" "Tooltip" "Command" | |
v_archetypeicon_dominator | /macro_image "v_archetypeicon_dominator" "Tooltip" "Command" | |
v_archetypeicon_mastermind | /macro_image "v_archetypeicon_mastermind" "Tooltip" "Command" | |
v_archetypeicon_stalker | /macro_image "v_archetypeicon_stalker" "Tooltip" "Command" |
I broke the powers icons down into separate tables split alphabetically to keep that from being one giant table with 2500+ entries. My main questions are 1) should these tables be used and if so 2) where should these tables go? I can see putting them on this page or creating a new page for them, but wanted to see if there were other opinions before moving forward. --AboveTheChemist (talk) 20:18, 6 June 2020 (UTC)
- They look good to me! If the page as it is now is indicative of how big this page will be, I should think there would be no problem having them here. --Aberrant (talk) 22:43, 6 June 2020 (UTC)
- Holy Tintinnabulation, Batman! Nice work with the tables. I was still struggling getting it out of Google in any usable format. It does make the page a bit slow to load, might be worse on for people with poor internet connections, for me it's a pause of a couple of seconds. RogerWilco (talk) 23:42, 15 June 2020 (UTC)
I had a friend in high school whose favorite word was 'tintinnabulation'. Anyway, I am slowly working my way down the list of icons. A few things to mention:
- I hadn't worried too much about page load time (my low-end DSL loads it in 5 seconds or so) but I am happy to split the tables into separate pages if that could be an issue
- When I first started vetting the icons early yesterday, I was using a slightly older version of the HC piggs where the icon names used the 'standard' mixed-case convention (like 'AtomicManipulation_AtomSmasher.png'), and I noticed that some icons uploaded since the HC wiki was cloned used a lowercase convention, so I moved those pages to match the 'standard' convention. I think Aberrant uploaded the majority, if not all, the icons I saw. Last night I updated to the latest HC piggs and I noticed that the icons in the HC piggs now follow a lowercase convention. Much heartburn ensued, and I actually decided to revert the page moves I had made until I noticed that Aberrant had more recently been uploading icons that followed the 'standard' convention, and that most of the uploads that followed the lowercase convention were uploaded soon after the wiki was cloned. So, I decided to stick with the mixed-case 'standard' convention to keep things consistent, but if that causes any issues just let me know.
- Along those lines, if it would be helpful/necessary I am happy to go through and edit the links in any pages that linked to the icons I moved, in order to get rid of the need for redirect pages. --AboveTheChemist (talk) 18:30, 16 June 2020 (UTC)
- Sorry, was just following your lead on the file names! I think it's better for them to match the old files with the capitalisation, it was just something I didn't notice when I originally uploaded some of them. Going forward will be having them match other power icons if that's okay. --Aberrant (talk) 00:41, 17 June 2020 (UTC)
- No need to apologize at all, I think we are on the same page. I felt a bit awkward moving those image pages and wanted to try to explain my rationale. Honestly I think I started following your lead with respect to the file names, because at this time last night I was waffling big time over which naming convention made the most sense, until I noticed the pattern in your most recent uploads. I agree that the capitalized naming convention makes the most sense and that we should stick with that convention. --AboveTheChemist (talk) 02:33, 17 June 2020 (UTC)
I've finished vetting all the icons. I updated a few, and added a number of missing ones from both the original game piggs and the Homecoming piggs. At this point, the last outstanding issue is that of load time, and if the tables need to be split over multiple pages. I am going to leave it as-is for now but I am happy to split the tables up if that would be a better approach. --AboveTheChemist (talk) 04:36, 18 June 2020 (UTC)
