Overview

The Atlas Statue in Atlas Park

The Atlas Statue is a massive statue that can be found in Atlas Park built as a memorial to the Hero Atlas, depicting him carrying the world on his back. Arguably the most recognizable landmark in all of Paragon City, it towers over Atlas Plaza and can easily be seen in almost any corner of Atlas Park. The space underneath the statue is often host to socializing and costume contests.

On top of the Atlas statue globe, one can obtain the Top Dog Exploration Badge. There is a Plaque commemorating his death in front of the statue. Contacts in Atlas Park send new heroes to read this plaque in order to learn about fallen heroes. Unlike most plaques, it is not related to any History Badges.

Inscription

This statue commemorates the heroic death of the mighty Atlas. On December 7th, 1941, the Forces of the original 5th Column launched a surprise attack on Paragon City. Atlas single-handedly fought back a large group of advancing 5th Column soldiers, and prevented them from gaining a foothold beyond Independence Port. His brave sacrifice held the area until the Freedom Phalanx arrived and drove back the invaders.

Notes

  • The Atlas Statue's model was changed as part of Issue 24. It's old model can still be found in Echo: Atlas Park.
  • In the CoH Beta, Atlas' globe was a metal framework rather than solid. This can be seen in an early City of Heroes Trailer.
