This article or section contains information about a past event in City of Heroes/Villains. It is provided for historical purposes.

The event ran from October 22nd through November 4th [1].

Overview

The Halloween Event for 2007 expanded on previous Halloweens. In addition to Trick or Treating for Event Salvage and enemy defeat badges, "Classic Costume" temporary powers were added to the treats. As with the 2006 event, the Croatoa Giant Monsters Eochai and Jack in Irons spawned throughout the game (including the City of Villains zones) and awarded their own special Halloween badges.

The event ran in all zones in the game except Faultline, Rikti War Zone, Recluse's Victory, The Hive, The Abyss, Cascade Archipelago, The Chantry, and The Storm Palace.

Trick or Treat

Main article: Trick or Treat

During this event, players were be able to 'Trick or Treat' by knocking (that is, 'clicking') on mission doors in the various zones. If a door was successfully knocked, then either a treat was awarded in the form of inspirations, costume salvage, or classic costumes, or else a trick was pulled, which spawned Halloween-specific enemies from the clicked door.

Giant Monsters and Eternal Night

Main article: Giant Monsters and Eternal Night

During the event, the entire game was locked in nighttime mode. The Giant Monsters from Croatoa, Eochai and Jack in Irons spawned in most zones (including the City of Villains zones), awarding Halloween-specific badges for their defeat. When one GM was defeated in a zone, another spawned in the same zone soon after.

Badges

Three new badges were available for this event, in addition to the badges from the previous Halloween Events. They are awarded for receiving faction costume Temporary Powers while trick or treating.

You've collected 10 classic costumes.

Badge

You've collected 25 classic costumes.

Badge

You've collected 50 classic costumes.

Note: receiving a duplicate costume will give no indication of the duplicate, but it will count towards the badges. Because of this, it will appear that fewer costume drops have occurred than are required for the badge.

All of the previous Halloween event badges were once again available as well.

Notes

  • New Badges added to the 2007 event did not have bars.
  • All Inspiration treats were "tier 3" (large).
    • There were reports of rare, obsolete Inspirations (such as Iron Will) being dropped as treats. However, this may have been on the testing server.
  • Note: Costumes are dropped independent of event salvage, meaning you could get both at once.
    • While similar to Freakshow and Arachnos costumes, these DID NOT grant stealth or invisibility. Mobs would attack players who were wearing these costumes, even if it was a costume of their group.
  • When Costume Powers were awarded, two Inspirations were awarded. In the case of receiving a costume which you already had, the two Inspirations could be used as an indication of a costume being awarded.
  • When Event Salvage was awarded as a treat, two Inspirations were also awarded.
  • Testing for this event began on Tuesday September 18th and ran from 3pm to 7pm Eastern. Second testing set was on Monday September 24th and ran from 3pm to an unknown time.
