New Contact(s)

If you are looking for someone who has information on Nemesis, you should speak to Anton Sampson. He is an expert in nanotechnology, and he loves working with technological heroes. Anton has access to Invention and Gadget Enhancements.

There have been some strange stories about Anton since he became obsessed with Nemesis, but he provides extremely detailed information.

I know a private eye named Wes Schnabel who wants to talk to you about the Council. He's always looking for new contacts and good heroes to work with. He usually takes cases in Steel Canyon.

Schnabel is a good, old-fashioned gumshoe.

Dr. Trevor Seaborn expressed an interest in meeting you when I told him about your good work. He's a psychiatrist specializing in criminal behavior, and an expert on the Hellions and the Circle of Thorns. Dr. Seaborn is in Steel Canyon.

Trevor has a brilliant mind, and his insights on criminal behavior are invaluable.

Captain Gordon Stacy could really use your help. He has made himself unpopular by investigating Crey, and I'm sure he'd appreciate some back up. He works mostly with natural heroes and can offer Gadget and Relic Enhancements.

Crey is a very dangerous opponent, Character. Be ready for anything.

missing introduction text

Ginger Yates is an ecologist who lost her family to the Devouring Earth. She's pretty grim, but her information is the best. She likes working with science heroes, and she has access to Invention and Generic Alteration Enhancements.

She has faced great adversity and is still fighting. Don't be put off by her brusque manner.

Laura Brunetti could be a useful contact to you, Character. Her supernatural library is unmached, and she is an expert on the Banished Pantheon and the Circle of Thorns. She has Training Enhancements.

Laura has a keen mind and loves to get to the bottom of things. I'm certain you will find work with her enlightening.

Information

Member of the Midnight Squad

Beyond his interest in all matters arcane, Montague Castanella has a unique ability. He is unaffected by temporal shifts. Somehow, his brain can perceive alterations within a timeline. He did not realize he had this ability until Ouroboros arrived and began adjusting the timeline to better prepare for a future attack.

However, this has also awakened him to other adjustments being made by groups other than Ouroboros.

He has taken the lead in recruiting heroes to join the Midnight Squad, believing that now, more than ever, their knowledge and expertise are needed to combat the Rikti as well as other threats.

Too Low Level

You have done well, Midnighter.

I have an important task for you that is of the utmost secrecy. However, even though you are a member of the Midnight Club, I do not believe that you have the ability to handle this mission. Yet. Please come back to me when you're security level 10 / 35. Only then will I be able to grant you access to this mission.

Montague Castanella has contacted you...

Hello, Character. My name's Montague Castanella. I'm a member of a group of people who have interest in matters of the occult and mystic arts.

Perhaps you've heard of our group. We're called The Midnight Squad and we have been around for some time. However, ever since the Rikti Invasion, our numbers have been greatly depleted. It is my hope to change that.

Greeting

Hello.

Too Busy

Please finish your other tasks before you ask to work with us.

Lost and Found (10-50)

Souvenir

The Midnight Squad

You look at the drained wand in your hand and are reminded of the events you have come to know as

Lost and Found

Montague Castanella came to you and asked you to rescue Percy Winkley, an adventurous lad who often got in over his head. During his rescue in a Circle of Thorns den, you came across some Lost. Percy told you the Lost were looking for something and the Midnight Squad wanted to know what. This led you to an abandoned office where you found a hole that went deep underground. At the end of that twisting cave, you came to a Rikti research facility and came face to face with Ci'dion, a true Rikti. You learned that the Rikti were attempting to remove magic from the world, thereby eliminating their weakness to it. Something had to be done.

With the help of a Rikti scientist named Argot'BurWot, who was seeking asylum, and the new leader of the Dawn Patrol, a woman named Lady Jane, you and the Midnight Squad began to form a plan. You began gathering the pieces you needed to put together a device that would cure the Lost of the Rikti virus, the Lost Curing Wand.

With the wand in hand, you went to the streets and began returning the Lost to the people they once were. With the Lost cured, the Rikti no longer had any control over them. What will the Rikti do without their Lost running around causing havoc, stealing needed supplies and gathering intelligence for them? What effect will this have on the Rikti army?

Only time will tell.

Rescue Percy Winkley

Briefing

Percy Winkley is missing... again.

I feel like I've been doing this a lot recently, but he's worth two of any other Midnighter in our club. I need you to rescue Percy Winkley.

Mission Acceptance

Thank you for your assistance. He's been captured by the Circle of Thorns. They're questioning him, trying to get him to reveal the Midnighter's secrets.

Find the Circle of Thorns cave and rescue Percy Winkley.

Unnecessary Solicitation

You need to go and find Percy before they get any information out of him. Please hurry.

Mission Objective(s)

The way Montague talks about him, you'd think this kid gets kidnapped on a weekly basis.

  • Rescue a Midnighter

You rescued the Midnighter known as Percy Winkley.

Enemies

  • or
  • (depending on security level when doing the mission)

Note: Both groups will be hostile to each other during this mission.

Notable NPCs

Clue
Circle of Thorns Incantation

While Percy was held hostage, he managed to steal an old scroll that the Circle of Thorns were using.

The scroll contains an incantation that appears to directly affect technology. It speaks of taking the power of science and crafting it to the ways of magic. Apparently this was what the Circle was planning on using to bend all origins towards the ways of magic.

Before Percy left, he told you that the scroll wouldn't actually do what they wanted it to do. They tried the spell, but all it did was turn one of the Circle's books of magic into a cell phone. They threw the scroll away in frustration, which is how Percy managed to get it in the first place.

Debriefing

Thank you for rescuing Percy. He's already handed over information regarding the Circle. They're attempting to divert the flow of all power to only those who use magic, causing all other origins to weaken while magic users reach new heights of ability.

The Circle was doing this as a means to combat the Rikti's encroachment into their caverns. This definitely explains the presence of The Lost in those caves.

The Midnight Squad has this information. I'll know shortly how they wish to proceed.

Investigate the Lost and Rikti's involvement

Briefing

The Midnighters believe that investigating Percy's information regarding The Lost and Rikti's involvement with magic is now our primary concern. I don't know how Percy does it, but that kid's good.

Are you interested in aiding us in this venture?

Mission Acceptance

The Midnighters thank you for your assistance. Have you ever considered joining our fold?

We've determined they are using a nearby abandoned office, but we know not for what purpose.

You need to go into that office and collect any information you can regarding what they are doing.

Unnecessary Solicitation

We need you to go into that abandoned office and find out what the Lost and Rikti are doing there.

Mission Objective(s)

You need to find out what The Lost and Rikti are doing in this abandoned office.

  • Investigate Lost & Rikti
    • 4 Computers, Defeat Ci'dion

You've collected the data you need and defeated Ci'dion. Return to Montague for further information.

Enemies

The Lost

Notable NPCs

Clue
Rikti Computer Data

You pull out a handful of what looks like different sized crystals, assuming they must contain some form of information. What you find odd about the crystals is how soft they are to the touch.

Clue
Rikti Computer Data

You removed what can only be described as a glow net from the under carriage of the computer. There are half a dozen different sized crystals that seem to be growing out of the net.

Clue
Rikti Computer Data

Reaching your hand into the translucent solution found inside this computer, you come out with a green sphere about the size of a softball. Streaks of electricity shoot around the sphere as it seems to constantly be vibrating.

Clue
Rikti Computer Data

You try and pull out what looks like a small power source, but when you do, you hear a small chirp and the inside of the computer starts to dissolve like gelatin. Now when you look into the computer case, all you see is a puddle of green goo at the bottom of it.

Debriefing

Ah, the Rikti and the Lost are working together. Not good.

Ever since the first invasion, the Midnighters have feared the Rikti would begin to pool their intellect towards countering their weakness to magic. If I had to guess, that's what's going on here.

Aid in rescue operation

Briefing

Surprisingly, we've managed to glean some information from the computer parts you've recovered. It looks like I've got another rescue operation for you, a very untraditional one at that.

Mission Acceptance

I need you to rescue a Rikti. Yes, you heard me right.

His name's Argot'BurWot, a Rikti Traditionalist being held captive by an opposing Rikti force, the Restructurists. I don't claim to be an expert on Rikti politics, but I do know that Argot has asked for asylum and the Vanguard have agreed to grant it to him. Since you found the intelligence, we thought you'd want to be the one who brought him in.

Rescue Argot'BurWot.

Unnecessary Solicitation

You need to track down the research facility where they are holding Argot'BurWot and rescue him.

Mission Objective(s)

The fact that there is such a thing as a 'good' Rikti seems odd, but if what Montague says is true, Argot'BurWot could hold the key to bringing them down.

  • Rescue Argot'BurWot
    • Defeat Ci'dion

You're rescued Argot'BurWot.

Enemies

Rikti

Notable NPCs

Debriefing

With Argot'BurWot safely in Vanguard hands, we have made a huge leap forward in this second invasion of the Rikti.

Now we only have to hope that the Vanguard are forthcoming with the intelligence they get out of our new Rikti ally.

Meet with Lady Jane

Briefing

I think it's time we brought in some outside help.

You ever hear of the Dawn Patrol? Their original leader, Hero 1, was the one who took the Omega Team through the Rikti Portal to shut it down. Ever since that day a woman by the name of Lady Jane has taken over the team. She's recently come over to the States and claims to have important information regarding the Lost. She wants a meeting.

Mission Acceptance

Apparently, the Lost attacked the main headquarters of the Dawn Patrol. The Patrol managed to fend off the group but a lot of damage was done.

You're supposed to meet up with Lady Jane. She doesn't want it widely known that she's here, fearing another possible Lost attack.

Go meet with Lady Jane and gather any knowledge she has regarding the Lost.

Oh, and watch what you say about Hero 1 while talking to her. Rumor has it that they were more than just teammates.

Unnecessary Solicitation

You need to find Lady Jane and get the information from her that she's brought with her from overseas.

Mission Objective(s)

You're here to meet up with Lady Jane and gather any information she has regarding the Lost.

  • Gather intelligence
    • Lady Jane
    • Help Lady Jane find the chest

You've rescued Lady Jane and collected the information you were seeking. Return to Montague for further instruction.

Enemies

Circle of Thorns

Notable NPCs

Bug! Although Lady Jane is a Hero according to her target window, she has Boss-class HP, and does not possess Purple Triangles.

Ambush! Protect the chest!

After freeing Lady Jane you will be ambushed by five waves of Circle of Thorns mystics

Clue
A Vial of Blood

Lady Jane gives you a vial that she says contains blood from Hero 1. This in and of itself isn't that interesting. The interesting part is that she claims it comes from Hero 1 after he entered the Rikti Portal to stop the first Rikti Invasion. She believes that in the right hands, this blood could contain a cure for the Lost.

Debriefing (Mission successful)

The vial Lady Jane gave you contains some of Hero 1's blood. She claims that the blood comes from Hero 1 after he entered the Rikti Portal. I don't know how she got that, perhaps that's what she was trying to track down in the chest she was after. Who knows?

There's also a data file regarding the research that Dawn Patrol was doing on the Lost.

This might be useful for our new friend Argot'BurWot.

Well done, Character.

Debriefing (Mission failure)

Even though Lady Jane was defeated and forced to teleport away, she managed to give you a sample of blood from Hero 1.

Agree to see Argot'BurWot

Briefing

I sent that vial of blood we got from Lady Jane over to the Rikti, Argot'BurWot. He said he would have a report about it pretty soon. I asked him to tell me what it was, but he said he would deal with you and with you only.

You up for going to see Argot'BurWot?

Mission Acceptance

He's in Atlas Park in one of the Vanguard compounds. This report must be important if he wants you to be the one to collect it.

Talk to Argot'BurWot

Unnecessary Solicitation

You need to go to Atlas Park and find Argot'BurWot. Find out what he's discovered regarding the vial of blood collected from Hero 1.

You should be able to find Argot in the Vanguard compound they've got over in Atlas.

Mission Objective(s)

  • Talk to Argot'BurWot

You received a sample of Lost Serum.

Briefing

Thank you for coming to see me, Character. I've made a very impressive breakthrough in both my language and my research. I wanted to make sure you were the first to experience me.
I have taken the vial of blood: from Montague. The blood is the cure for the Rikti virus in humans. In new words, I discovered a cure for the Lost.
Recent humans are the only terms affected.
However, Rikti technological barriers still block virus. Magic: once again key. I've been reading local practitioners and one woman's name resonates within me.
I need you to take this to Azuria.
I believe she will be able to find a way over this problem.

Clue
Blood Sample

Argot gave you a sample of the blood he tested from Hero 1. He's altered it to actually reverse the effects of the Lost virus on those already infected. However, currently the virus has very strong blockers in place to prevent this. Argot believes that magic is the answer to this problem. He wants you to seek out Azuria as he believes she will be able to craft something that will bypass the technological barriers in place within the Lost virus.

Talk to Azuria

Unnecessary Solicitation

Please go and see Azuria. She will be able to aid us.

Mission Objective(s)

  • Talk to Azuria

You received Azuria's Wand.

Debriefing

Ah, it's been some time since I've seen you around these parts, Character. What can I help you with?
A Rikti... on our side... trying to cure the Lost. That's impos... that's interesting. I would keep this knowledge to yourself. Many here would not believe you and if they did, there's no telling what they'd want to do to that... thing.
I will aid you, though, as your name is well regarded here in Atlas. Take this wand. Once infused with the Rikti components, it should do the trick and get past the technology barrier nicely.

Clue
Empty Wand

Azuria gave you this wand. To you it looks like a simple stick, but she believes it can hold the serum Argot has created to cure the Lost.

Debriefing

You just need one more piece and then you can begin putting it together.

Craft Lost cure

Briefing

The time has come for you to take all the pieces you've collected throughout this journey and craft them into something the world has never seen - a cure for the Lost virus.

Mission Acceptance

Montague gives something.

You received Grave Dirt.

Here is the last piece you need before you can craft the cure. It's something from all of the Midnighters who have fallen to the Rikti. Take this, and go to a crafting station here at the University to build this Lost Curing Wand. You should have all the parts for it:

Salvage Scrolls.png Salvage BloodSample.png
Circle of Thorns Incantation Vial of Hero 1's Blood
Salvage KheldianBloodSample.png Salvage Fetish.png
Lost Serum Azuria's Wand
Salvage ArcanePowder.png
Midnighter Grave Dirt
Clue
Midnighter Grave Dirt

Montague gives you a small bowl full of soil. This dirt comes from the grave sites of Midnighters who were killed during the Rikti invasion. It's infused with the angry spirits of all those who were struck down on that fateful day. Their vengeance will guide the wand to the correct target.

Unnecessary Solicitation

You need to go to one of the invention tables here in the University and craft the Lost Curing Wand. With that you'll be able to cure the Lost of their virus. You should have all the parts for it: (table repeats)

The Lost Curing Wand is an Invention recipe that costs 100 influence to craft.

Mission Objective(s)

  • Craft Lost cure

You've crafted the Lost Cure!

Power

20 uses

Pieces of this wand come from many sources, including Azuria, Argot'BurWot, Hero 1, the Midnight Squad and even the Circle of Thorns. The wand you crafted will cure the Lost of their horrific plague.

You received the Lost Cure.

Clue
The Lost Wand

When you look down at what you made, you see streaks of Rikti energy flowing through the old wooden stick. This wand is a combination of both magic and technology. Wield it carefully.

Debriefing

You've crafted the Lost Cure. Amazing. You up for trying it out?

Cure Lost

Briefing

You've got it! You've really got it! By the dark gods, you have a cure for the Lost.

A cure for the Lost! I never would have believed it possible. It's taken all of us to do this, but you specifically brought all of it together.

The Lost have been plagued for long enough. Let us put an end to their suffering.

Mission Acceptance

The magic in the wand has only a certain amount of charges.

You might be able to cure about two dozen of them before it stops working. However, that should be enough for us to get an idea of how to improve the process. If you're unsure where to go to find the Lost, I'd recommend checking out the following areas:

Faultline
The Hollows
Kings Row
Perez Park
Skyway City

Unnecessary Solicitation

You need to go to Faultline, Kings Row, Perez Park or Skyway City. Those areas have the largest populations of Lost. Use the wand on them and see what happens. Hopefully, they'll be cured.

Mission Objective(s)

  • Cure Lost
    • You have cured # of 20

You've cured 20 Lost.

Enemies

The Lost

Badge

The Lost Savior Badge is awarded upon completion of this mission.

Badge

With the help of the Midnight Squad, Dawn Patrol and even a Rikti scientist, you've done the impossible. You've found a cure for the Lost.

Debriefing

Well done. You've done what no one has been able to do since the Lost first started appearing. Now I just need to work more closely with Argot'BurWot and Azuria on a way to mass produce this cure. That will take some time, but from what you've helped accomplish today, you've brought hope back to the people of Paragon City.

Thank you.

Enter the Midnighter Club

Briefing

With the Lost cure on its way, the Midnight Squad can begin to look at other avenues to counter the Rikti. Now that you are officially a member of the Midnight Squad, I want you to go to our club. It is a place for others like us to discuss matters of the occult and mystical arts, while also preparing for the eventuality of another Rikti attack.

Mission Acceptance

To get in, you're going to need to give the password to the man at the door. He's a Latin Student we have working as an acolyte of the Midnight Squad.

As far as the password goes, we change it on a regular basis, but for now it is:

Si vis pacem, para bellum

...oh, and welcome to the club.

Mission Objective(s)

  • Talk to Latin Student

Briefing

You know, I've been trying to work on my Latin. I'm really truly horrible with it. Perhaps you could help me. How is your Latin?

Excello

Which phrase calls out to you?

  • Quando Omni Flunkus Moritati

Ah, well. Perhaps I'm not the only one who has problems with Latin. Would you like to try again?

  • Si vis pacem, para bellum

Well met, Midnighter. It is true that if one seeks to bring peace, one must also prepare for war. Please enter the club through the door behind me. We have much to discuss. You should read over this briefing on the club. It should help get you up to speed on what we're currently working on.

  • Alea jacta est

Ah, well. Perhaps I'm not the only one who has problems with Latin. Would you like to try again?

Badge

The Midnight Squad Badge is awarded upon completion of this mission.

Badge

You have proven yourself a worthy ally to the secretive order of mystics, magicians and scholars known as the Midnight Squad. Because of this, they have granted you access to their exclusive Midnighter Club.

Clue
Midnighter Club

The Midnighter Club is the hidden meeting place for the group known as the Midnight Squad.

Here they meet and discuss matters of the occult and mystic arts. Recently, their attention has turned towards the Rikti. During their first invasion, the Squad was nearly wiped out. The Rikti knew they had a weakness towards magic and therefore attacked magic groups first before all others.

The Squad has used all of their resources to bolster their ranks and to look at how best to exploit the Rikti's weakness for humanity's gain.

Now the Midnighters have begun recruiting both heroes and villains across Paragon City and the Rogue Isles. Their hope... to enlist the power of both sides to seek revenge for the Rikti's first invasion.

Midnighter Representative
Debriefing

Hello, Character. I'm glad you made it in here. This club has a number of interesting aspects to it. You should be able to get to Steel Canyon, Croatoa or Founders' Falls from here. Take note, you will see some villains walking around as well, but do not worry. They have sworn an oath to the Midnight Squad. For now, our agenda is shared.
Again, welcome to the club. I hope you meet some interesting people.

Debriefing

Thank you for all your assistance. From now on, I'd recommend any further discussion regarding the mystic troubles we're facing be discussed within the safety of the Midnighter Club. There is no telling who or what could be listening out here.

Missions

Level 35: This mission is available once a Hero reaches level 35. Villains receive a similar mission from Ashley McKnight

Travel to Cimerora

Template:MeritAward Briefing

Have you ever heard of Cimerora, Character? Ever since Ouroboros started altering the timeline, I became aware of a gift I had. I can perceive the changes in a timeline, yet I am unaffected by it. This has made me aware of some other alterations throughout time. I need you to meet someone. His name is Imperious.

He is not of this time or place, but I feel his need, and the need of his people, transcends both of those.

Mission Acceptance

To get to Cimerora, we're going to, er, 'bypass' Ouroboros. I'd prefer them not to be involved in this particular mission. I've procured an Aspect of the Pillar myself. This crystal has been attuned to take you to Cimerora and nowhere else. I've kept the crystal hidden within the Midnighter Club.

Here's a dossier on Cimerora. This should hopefully get you up to speed on this ancient land.

Clue
Cimerora Lore

Cimerora is an ancient land in the Mediterranean. Many believe it is the birthplace of the super powered being. Montague notes that this is not altogether accurate. Cimerora is, however, one of the more famous locations in history where various origins of power came together in a similar way that is happening in our current timeline.

Montague also notes that Imperious, the man you're supposed to contact, comes from an origin that has been completely absent for some time. That of the Incarnate.

Unnecessary Solicitation

You need to go into the Midnighter Club, enter the secret room and travel to Cimerora through the aspect of the crystal. Once you're there, you must meet up with Imperious. He will guide you on what to do from there.

Mission Objective(s)

Briefing

Well met, traveler. I have met with your ally, Montague Castanella. He is a strange, but determined man. When he first arrived here, I thought he was one of Romulus' men, disguised in some eccentric garb. It wasn't until I questioned him that I learned he was, in fact, here to help. I believed little of what he said, even in these amazing times. Before I sent him home, I told him that if he truly wanted to aid my people, he must send champions to aid me.

Looking on you now, I believe he may have done just that.

Debriefing

For now, I have nothing more for you.
