The '''Valiant Defenders of the Motherland''' is the first Russian hero supergroup founded after the collapse of the Soviet Union. The Valiant Defenders were founded in 1993 in Moscow. [[Statesman]] acted as a consultant in the group's origin and attended the group's official founding ceremony.

[[Rebecca Foss]], the wealthy founder of [[Hero Corps]], also attended the ceremony. It it speculated that the profit derived from Valiant Defenders merchandise in Russia contributed to her idea of founding a for-profit hero supergroup in [[Paragon City]].
