Have you ever worked with Miriam Bloechl, the psychic? She's quite talented and enjoys helping heroes with the Banished Pantheon and the Circle of Thorns. She has Training Enhancements.

Miriam's talent is very impressive; you will learn much from her.

Laura Brunetti could be a useful contact to you, Character. Her supernatural library is unmached, and she is an expert on the Banished Pantheon and the Circle of Thorns. She has Training Enhancements.

Laura has a keen mind and loves to get to the bottom of things. I'm certain you will find work with her enlightening.

I'd like you to introduce yourself to Ashwin Lannister from Hero Corps. They may be a for-profit organization, but they get the job done. He is currently focused on the Council and the Warriors. He has access to Training Enhancements.

Hero Corps doesn't always get the best press, but they are effective. Good luck, and keep your eyes open.

My friend Christine Lansdale is a military consultant who often helps heroes like you deal with the Sky Raiders and the Family. Through her military contacts, she has access to training enhancements.

There's a scientist named Marvin Weintraub who's quite the expert on advanced technologies, the Freakshow, and the Family. He also has training enhancements.

Marvin has done as much to help the heroes of Paragon City as anyone in the world.

Level 30-34

Jenny Firkins is an environmentally conscious scientist who has a personal stake in bringing down the Devouring Earth and Crey. She is very dedicated to her work with science heroes and has access to Invention and Genetic Alteration Enhancements.

Jenny cares very much about Paragon City, Character. I think you will find working with her a pleasure.

You might want to go introduce yourself to Lou Pasterelli. His politics are more than a little radical and he's had some run-ins with the authorities, but he can be a great help against the Devouring Earth and Crey. He works primarily with science heroes and has access to Invention and Genetic Alteration Enhancements.

Lou is a firebrand, but he knows how to get things done!

Briefing

I've got a bad feeling about this one, Character; I think you should recruit a team. I heard some kids were partying in some caves near Talos Island, when a tired, unkempt woman crawled up from the depths of the cavern. It was Dr. Eileen Turner, the missing geologist. The kids gave her some food, but she said she had to return to the cavern before 'the Devoured' found her missing. She begged the kids to tell someone that the city faced great danger from under the earth. I think you should check out those caverns. You only have 90 minutes to deal with the situation. And you'll need at least one teammate.

It sounds like Dr. Turner is in the clutches of the Devouring Earth. No one knows who's the mastermind behind those monsters' mayhem. But whoever he is, he's willing to kill and destroy to achieve his extremist ecological goals.

Debriefing: Mission Success

If the Devouring Earth had succeeded, they might have sunk a good chunk of the city. It's a good thing you were on top of this one, Character. Dr. Turner is recovering with relatives out in California, but she asked me to send you her thanks. She says that she thought she'd never see the sun again, until you showed up.

Debriefing: Mission Failure

Well, it looks like Dr. Turner got to be the hero this time. The Devoured were trying to divert an underground river that would have sunk a good portion of the city. They were forcing Dr. Turner to position their bombs for them, but she tricked them. It was close, but the bombs didn't do enough damage. As for Dr. Turner, we can only hope she made it out alive.

You've kept this sealed sample of the Devouring Earth's strange mutagen, the Will of the Earth. It's a reminder of the adventure you've come to think of as:

An Unnatural Order

It began when your contact sent you to investigate a Devouring Earth raid. After stopping the destruction, you learned that the creatures were after some biotechnology equipment. So it came as no surprise when your contact sent you to protect Lomad Labs, a biotechnology firm, from the creatures. However, you were appalled to learn that, in addition to equipment, the Devouring Earth was making off with Lomad's scientists.

You hastened after the kidnapped scientists and managed to rescue many of them. One of the hostages informed you that the Devouring Earth had also abducted several mystics from the area. Your contact sent you to a nearby Council base to seek clues to the location of these missing magicians. A Council file tipped you off to the Devouring Earth's base location, and you saved the missing mystics. However, you learned of two more hostages the Devouring Earth still held in its clutches.

You set off at once to rescue Professor August P. Lovelethe and Dr. Achilles Theron. Although you saved the professor, you learned that Dr. Theron might not want to be rescued. Indeed, it seemed he was in league with the Devouring Earth!

The doctor planned to help the Devouring Earth release a terrible mutagen into the city's water system. You prevented this vile plan, and recovered a sample of the mutagen, the Will of the Earth. It was strange stuff, this mutagen. You could hear a mental voice emanating from it. By listening to this voice, you were able to track down the last remnants of the mutagen. In doing so, you came face to face with the treacherous Dr. Theron. You defeated the doctor, now a hideous Devouring Earth creature, and recovered the Will of the Earth.

I have something that needs your attention. Devouring Earth creatures have been spotted massing in a warehouse. They're trashing the place, but I don't think that's the sum of their plan. There's a good chance that their masters are planning some kind of raid and are using the place as a rally point. If you can defeat the Devouring Earth before they can mount a full attack, we could save a lot of people and property.

Briefing

Apparently that Devouring Earth technology theft wasn't merely random violence. The creatures are after the same company they stole from, Lomad Labs. This time they've struck one of the company's lab facilities. They're tearing the place apart and kidnapping scientists. You've got to stop the Devouring Earth attack!

Mission Acceptance

The Devouring Earth hate technology and everything man made, so it's no surprise that they'd stage an attack on a biotech company. But they must have something against Lomad Labs. After all, they were destroying Lomad's shipments when you fought them in that warehouse.

I got some info on those scientists the Devouring Earth kidnapped from Lomad Labs. One of them was able to get a call out on his cell phone. The police are gathering forces to mount a rescue, but I don't think we have time to wait. Save those scientists from the Devouring Earth!

The Devouring Earth moved the scientists into a series of shallow caverns. They're probably waiting for things to quiet down so they can move the scientists to their main habitat out in Eden.

Kidnapped scientists, and now missing mystics too. It seems the Devouring Earth have been busy. I checked around; a French mystic named Raquel Thibodaux did arrive in town last week, but she hasn't been to any of the conferences she came here to attend. We need some way to locate her and any more kidnapped people before it's too late.

Briefing

It seems those scientists you rescued were right: the Devouring Earth have kidnapped a lot more people than we had guessed. I've been able to link several missing persons cases to recent Devouring Earth raids. They've been taking mystics from all over the area. Right now, our best chance at finding them is to get information on their movements from some of their enemies. One of the scientists you rescued in the caves mentioned an attack by the Council. There's probably a Council base near those caves. I need you to go to that base and see if they have any information about where the Devouring Earth are taking the kidnapped people.

Mission Acceptance

Whatever the Devouring Earth is up to, it's big. Some of the kidnapped were from cities normally outside their range. Let's just hope that the Council's habit of careful record keeping work for us this time.

I just got a call from Lomad Labs. Seems one of their researchers, a Dr. Theron, disappeared from his home last night. They must have grabbed him after you rescued those other Lomad techs. I need you to rescue the hostages from the Devouring Earth. You're the best chance they've got.

This has taught us a lot about the Devouring Earth that we didn't know before. Until now, everyone always thought the leaders of the Devouring Earth were people who were producing monsters. But Dr. Theron's transformation seems to indicate that any person who was once a member is now a monster himself! I wonder what this leader of theirs is like, this strange Hamidon. But I guess that's a worry for later.

They think that their security might be able to hold off the Lost for up to 2 hours, and who knows what the Lost will do after that. That teleportation equipment is critical. If it's destroyed, we'll have to consider this mission a failure.

That teleportation grid is integral to this city. If the Lost take it down, we could lose a lot of fine heroes.

It's a euphoric hallucinogen with a nasty addictive side, but they've already sold out of their supplies. Here's the twist, though. Analysis of captured samples of the drug link it chemically to the mutagens found in the system of captured members of the Lost. My sources have pinned down where the Family are going to be buying themselves a new supply of this stuff. If you can shut this down now, maybe you can stop the spread of this Shift.

Well, I just learned that a swarm of Devouring Earth monsters is after him! One of his staffers called. The Devouring Earth just attacked their headquarters; the congressman and his aids escaped, but they're still in danger. Someone's got to save those people from the Devouring Earth.

I think the Council may be trying to subvert these creatures and use them to do their dirty work. They're turning them into remote control monsters! But now that we know about it, we should be able to intercept the control signals and pinpoint their point of origin. And look here: we've already got a good lead. I need you to go to this location and shut this Council project down for good.

Drawing on his classical education, he named the island 'Terra Volta'. Oswald's island soon blossomed with industry, as manufacturing companies sought the proximity of the port and power plant. The plant eventually gave way to a modern nuclear facility, but Terra Volta remains the city's primary power source. Unfortunately, it has not remained industrious. Many companies abandoned their factories during the Rikti War, fearing an attack on the plant. As a result, several villain groups now make their home on the island.
