| In the early days of the Statesman's costumed career, he worked with a woman called Madame Danger. Maria Jenkins, as she called in her other identity, was his closest friend and confidant for many years. Slowly her powers began to fade with time but she was aging quite slowly. When she met Statesman in the 1930's she appeared to be in her mid twenties. Although she is retired, Maria certainly does not look over a hundred years of age. Maria has been out of the limelight for some time, but was one of the first to realize that Statesman was missing. This frightening conclusion has caused her to become more actively involved in things. | | In the early days of the Statesman's costumed career, he worked with a woman called Madame Danger. |
| |
|
| Briefing | | Are you familiar wiht the Praetorian version of Luminary? She calls herself Nightstar, and she's a self-aware robot like Siege, only she seems a little bit crazy. She believes her power comes from a place called 'the Black Shroud', another dimension that she recently gained access to. |
|
| |
|
| Hold onto your hat. I've got a lead on a Praetorian incursion into Paragon City itself. It seems that Marauder has set up a miltary base over on Peregrine Island! I don't have to tell you that there are a lot of valuable military targets on that island. Nor do I have to tell you how quickly this situation could become deadly. You've got to get to Peregrine Island and wipe out Marauder's cell.
| | We have gotten word from the resistance that she is making her monthly pilgramage to the Black Shroud dimension, and this would be a perfect time to strike, taking her down without fear of Praetorian reprisal. , can you pull this off for us, Character? |

| |
| | |
| Are you familiar with the Praetorian villain who calls herself Nightstar? I've heard some strange things about her. She's an intelligent robot, like Siege, but the difference is that she seems to be a little bit crazy. She believes that her power comes from a galaxy contained within her robotic armor. Every month, she goes out under the night sky to commune with the stars. If you could disrupt her ritual, her minions might start to doubt her. Even more importantly, she might start to doubt herself.

| ====Part One: Fix the scanner====
| |
| | |
| By now you know, Praetoria and it's tyrannical Emperor Cole is the single greatest threat to our dimension. Portal Corporation and Vanguard have been doing everything they can to combat that threat. Several heroes, including yourself, have been instrumental in the capture and containment of several of the Praetorian Guard: Anti-Matter, Neuron, Marauder, Nightstar, Battle Maiden, the list goes on and on. Unfortunately these villains can not be contained in a facility such as the Zig, as they have the resources of an entire dimension at their disposal. It seems that several powerful Loyalist members have taken the opportunity to break the Praetorian Guard out of prison and take them back to their home dimension.
| |
| | |
| This is unfortunate, but not completely unexpected. I had hoped we could keep them contained at least a little while longer. | |
| | |
| A few weeks ago, Tina Macintyre had set up Dimensional Scanners in the forests of Praetoria, and these have been a godsend in our efforts. Vanguard has even been able to piggy-back communication intercept software onto those scanners, so we are getting a good idea on troop movements as well as the current political structure of Praetoria. However, one of those scanners has gone off-line and we need someone powerful to return to Praetoria and repair or replace it. Can you do this for us, Character?
| |

| |
| | |
| Debriefing
| |
| | |
| So Chimera found one of our scanners? That is unfortunate. I wonder if he had time to tell the other Praetorians about it. Vanguard didn't pick up any such comminique, but Chimera has some undetectable communication methods.
| |
| | |
| ====Part Two: Check on the scanners====
| |
| | |
| Damn, it looks like Chimera was able to get a signal off before you defeated him. All the scanners in Praetoria just died. We need to send you back to that forest and see what happened. It might be a jammer, or it might be that they destroyed them all.
| |
| | |
| If Emperor Cole is planning something big, we can't be blindsided.
| |
| | |
| * Check on the scanners
| |
| | |
| I'd say those scanners are more trouble than they were worth, but they've kept us aprised of the situation in Praetoria for weeks.
| |
| | |

| |
| | |
| We still don't know what's going on why all those data scanners went dead. Character, go find out!

| |

| Debriefing
| |
| | |
| One scanner was missing? It's bound to show up sooner or later, and we'll have to deal with it. I hate the fact that we are blind to Praetoria right about now.
| |
| | |
| ==== Part Three: Go to Praetoria and destroy the stolen scanner ====
| |
| | |
| Briefing
| |
| | |
| It seems that the lone scanner we couldn't locate just started transmitting again, only it's not in the forest, it's in Underground Praetoria. Looks like the militant arm of the Resistance has the scanner and are trying to figure out what to do with it. Of course, if the Praetorian Guard know this too, they'll send some of their best operatives to retrieve it from the Resistance. I need you to go and destroy that scanner, we can't let it fall into either group's hands.
| |
| | |
| * Go to Praetoria and destroy the stolen scanner
| |
| | |
| Those scanners were built with state of the art technology. There's no telling what the Praetorians can learn from it.

|
| |
| Debriefing
| |
|
| |
| Excellent. We've destroyed all the scanners we've deployed to Praetoria. That is a huge relief. We had some tech in there that would be extremely dangerous in the hands of Neuron or Anti-Matter.
| |
|
| |
| ==== Part Four: Destroy all evidence of Vanguard's software====
| |
|
| |
| Briefing
| |
|
| |
| Looks like I spoke too soon. Even though you destroyed all the scanners on Praetoria, Neuron got his hands on Vanguard's communication software. That's got a collapsing algorithm that he can use to piggy-back on our communications channels like we were doing to theirs, and that's not good. . Statesman isn't careless with his praise, Character; it seems pretty clear to me that he thinks the world of you.

| Briefing
| |
| | |
| You may be aware, Character, that Portal Corporation has faced down some serious threats from the dimension they've designated Upsilon Beta 9-6. Otherwise known as Praetorian Earth. It's a dimension ruled by brutal supervillains who seem intent on claiming our world for their own. Portal scientists have done a lot of research into the Praetorian dimension, and they believe they've identified weaknesses for each of the Praetorian supervillains. I'm about to send you on some of the most critical missions you'll ever carry out. You've got to battle this new threat at it's source: Praetorian Earth.
| |
| | |
| The dangers you face on that world will be monstrous. I'd recommend always bringing a few friends along for backup.

| That ninja camp you shut down was one of Praetorian Earth's best facilities for churning out smart, well-trained troops. With it gone, we can all breathe a little easier. We've got Chimera contained as best we can in the Zig. Some days I wish we could go back to the Cold Storage method of containing the really awful villains. It kept Reichsman off the street for the longest time.
| | From what I've heard, Marauder is the most dedicated of Tyrant's lackeys. It's disturbing that he found his way into Paragon City and went so far as to set up a base. I've asked Portal Corporation to keep a tighter lock on any unauthorized portal activity. In the meantime, I hope you'll be prepared to help me defend Paragon City from any future invasions. |

| Portal Corporation has located the stronghold of the Praetorian villain called Shadowhunter. It's a wooded thicket, where the bones of Shadowhunter's victims are kept, unburied and unconsecrated. Shadowhunter and his wolves draw their power from those bones, and from the restless spirits tied to them. | The Rikti and the Praetorians may have the same goals in mind, but that doesn't make them friends. On the contrary. The Praetorians want to conquer Earth for themselves, so they're as interested in beating back the Rikti as we are. One of the Praetorians has cooked up an ingenious scheme for weakening the Rikti; Malaise plans to use some sort of drug to revert the converted Lost back to a more human state. He hopes to pit them against their Rikti masters and create chaos in the Rikti ranks.
| |
| | |
| As we speak, Malaise's forces are moving in on a Rikti base in the sewers. I need you to get to the sewers and stop the battle. Damage to the sewer system is a real health hazard, and there's also the risk that Malaise will reinforce his army with the converted Lost.
| |
| | |
| Malaise has the power to inflict his madness on others; most of his minions are deranged and unstable, just like the Lost themselves. In fact, if he manages to revert some of the Rikti converts to their Lost state, they should fit right into his army.

Information
Former Heroine
In the early days of the Statesman's costumed career, he worked with a woman called Madame Danger. Maria Jenkins, as she called in her other identity, was his closest friend and confidant for many years. Slowly her powers began to fade with time but she was aging quite slowly. When she met Statesman in the 1930's she appeared to be in her mid twenties. Although she is retired, Maria certainly does not look over a hundred years of age. Maria was the first to deduce Statesman's kidnapping by Tyrant years ago, and is happy to have her friend returned to her.

Take down Nightstar
Briefing: Black Shroud Dimension
Are you familiar wiht the Praetorian version of Luminary? She calls herself Nightstar, and she's a self-aware robot like Siege, only she seems a little bit crazy. She believes her power comes from a place called 'the Black Shroud', another dimension that she recently gained access to.
We have gotten word from the resistance that she is making her monthly pilgramage to the Black Shroud dimension, and this would be a perfect time to strike, taking her down without fear of Praetorian reprisal. We need you to go to the Black Shroud dimension and take down Nightstar, can you pull this off for us, Character?

Defeat Marauder and destroy the portal
Briefing: The Marauder's Cell
I heard you were responsible for taking down Marauder, Anti-Matter, and Neuron earlier this month. They got tossed in the Zig, but while they were setting up their 'special containment', they each broke out.
Neuron and Anti-Matter had the smarts to figure out how to portal back to Praetoria, but Marauder got left behind. I heard he gathered up the remnants of the invasion force he brough here and they are holed up in a warehouse. They are planning something big and I need you to go in and take him down. You've done it once, I know you can do it again.
Marauder may have his metal mits on a portal back to Praetoria. If you find it, destroy it, it's better he's here where we can keep a closer eye on him.

Debriefing
From what I've heard, Marauder is the most dedicated of Emperor Cole's lackeys. I'm happy he's back behind bars for now. Having a cell of Praetorians right here in Paragon City is extremely dangerous.
Completion of this mission earns a hero the Agent accomplishment badge.
Wipe out Marauder's cell
Bug! This mission is the older Badge mission and is still given out by Maria Jenkins (possibly an oversight). The current and correct (in terms of briefing, story and content) badge mission is shown above as Defeat Marauder and destroy the portal.
Briefing: The Marauder's Cell
Hold onto your hat, Character. I've got a lead on a Praetorian incursion into Paragon City itself. It seems that Marauder has set up a military base over on Peregrine Island! I don't have to tell you that there are a lot of valuable military targets on that island. Nor do I have to tell you how quickly this situation could become deadly. You've got to get to Peregrine Island and wipe out Marauder's cell.
It may be that Marauder has a stable portal back to his home world. If so, you'll need to destroy it.
Unnecessary Solicitation
Marauder's infiltration cell is the single greatest threat to Paragon City's security.

Debriefing
From what I've heard, Marauder is the most dedicated of Tyrant's lackeys. It's disturbing that he found his way into Paragon City and went so far as to set up a base. I've asked Portal Corporation to keep a tighter lock on any unauthorized portal activity. In the meantime, I hope you'll be prepared to help me defend Paragon City from any future invasions.
Story Arc
A Hero's Hero
Maria Jenkins' story arc was updated with the launch of Issue 18/Going Rogue. Her original story arc, A Hero's Hero, which dealt with the details leading up to the Praetorian War, is available via Flashback; its missions are listed on its own page.
A Hero's Epic
Souvenir
Positron's Prototype Armor
Positron sent you one of his prototype armors as a token of his gratitude. You see it as a reminder of the mission you've come to think of as:
A Hero's Epic
It all started when Maria Jenkins mentioned that one of the scanners that Tina Macintyre had you place in Praetoria had gone off-line. She asked you to repair it, but when you arrived in Praetoria you found Chimera was the one responsible for disabling that scanner. You had hoped that he didn't have time to reveal the espionage before you could defeat him.
Soon after that, all the scanners in Praetoria went dead. Maria asked you to return to the forest and make sure their technology doesn't fall into the hands of the Praetorians. You were able to locate and destroy all but one of the scanners, which was not where you had placed it.
The missing scanner then began transmitting. It was located in underground Praetoria! It seems some Resistance members made off with the scanner before you could get to it, and now you and the Praetorian Guard were looking for it. After taking on Nightstar you found and destroyed the missing scanner. Maria expressed her relief that the technology contained within did not fall into the hands of Anti-Matter or Neuron.
Maria's worst fears were realized when she learned that Neuron had gotten a hold of specialized Vanguard spy software that monitored communication channels. You were asked to hit Neuron's mainframes and destroy any traces of that software. Vanguard sent Serpent Drummer along with you for assitance, and together you tackled and defeated Bobcat and purged all traces of the software. Unfortunately, Bobcat mentioned that the software was already being used by Neuron, so you quickly headed over to his tower in Praetoria and destroyed the last remnants of the code and ended up in a fight with Neuron. Unfortunately, you learned that Emperor Cole, aka Tyrant, already had a plan underway. Upon returning to Maria she contacted Statesman and the Freedom Phalanx to lend you a hand if needed.
Positron contacted Maria Jenkins and believed that activity on Warrior Earth was tied to Tyrant's plan. He asked that you be sent to assist him in investigating the dimension that gave Valkyrie, and her Praetorian counterpart Battle Maiden, their powers. In this dimension you and he found a Dimensional Resonator, placed by Battle Maiden's minions. You then talked to Tina Macintyre who had coordinates to Battle Maiden's lair, and portaled you directly there. You confronted and defeated Battle Maiden but not before she accidentally spilled part of his plan. Using other dimensions and the Resonators, he could successfully hide his invasion force for a surprise attack on Paragon City.
Tina Macintyre, in an attempt to help, opened a portal to the Shadow Earth, the personal realm of Black Swan. As soon as she did so, tons of shadows came pouring out into Portal Corporation. You sped there and met Gregor Richardson of MAGI who gave you a spell that could help against the Shadows. After destroying the generator that powered the portal, the threat to Portal Corporation was ended.
Maria informed you that Tina Macintyre wanted you, and when you arrived you were told that Positron had already gone ahead to Shadow Earth and was awaiting your arrival. Upon reaching this alternate dimension, Positron was nowhere to be found. A remnant of a portal was the only clue you could find until you were ambushed by more of Black Swan's shadows. After defeating them and Black Swan herself, you found a scrap of Positron's armor. He had been kidnapped by the Praetorians!
Penelope Yin, upon learning the news of Positron's abduction, followed you to Mother Mayhem's asylum where she feared that the Praetorian psychic would pry open his mind and reveal all sorts of secrets. When you arrived, you were both confronted by the Praetorian Malaise and Mother Mayhem. After defeating them both, you found a refrigerator that contained several vials of Positron's fluids, blood, spinal, etc. He was here, and you just missed him! He was now in the hands of Tyrant's personal ghost, Diabolique.
There is a part to underground Praetoria that the Praetorian Infernal calls his own. Here he and Numina performed dangerous rituals on Positron, rituals you and Ms. Liberty were too late to stop. In taking down the pair, Infernal revealed that Positron was now in the hands of Marauder and Dominatrix. They were working on something to do with the Vanguard code that Neuron had stolen and Positron himself. What it was you had no idea.
You portalled to Praetoria once again in search of Positron. You found and defeated both Dominatrix and Marauder, and they showed worry that their plan didn't have enough time to take hold yet, and you soon found out why. You found 'Positron' but something was off. He called you Lady Grey and gave you authorization codes to lower the War Walls. This was some Hyper Advanced Clockwork made to look like Positron and fool Vanguard long enough to take Earth's defenses off-line! You are lucky you got to it when you did. Had this thing been fully programmed, the entire world might have fallen beneath Emperor Cole's invasion! There was still the matter of Positron's location.
Maria Jenkins mentioned that years ago, Statesman was once before kidnapped by Tyrant. He was bound in a machine that supposedly had Praetorian Tech, which Statesman had no power against. That theory never held up, but further investigation showed that it wasn't Praetorian Tech, but Incarnate power from the Well of the Furies that bound Statesman. If that was true, there was only one place on Praetoria they could hope to keep Positron held up, the same lair Tyrant held Statesman in previously. You portalled in and were greeted by Manticore. In the end Tyrant didn't even have the gall to meet you himself, he sent one of his Olympian Guard clones to deal with you. Positron was thankful for the rescue and for stopping his robot-duplicate before it could enact Tyrant's plan.
Part One: Fix the scanner
Just like last time, that place is crawling with Devouring Earth.
Unnecessary Solicitation
I need to know the status of that data scanner.
Mission Objective(s)
You are unsure which trees are trees, and which trees want to kill you.
- Repair or replace the scanner
- Set up the Scanner
- Defeat Chimera
You found the data scanner.

Chimera Dialogue
Before Combat:
- Chimera: Those primals think they can watch us? They have another thing coming!
Combat Start:
- Chimera: Oh, are you here to see what happened to your little scanner?
Debriefing
So Chimera found one of our scanners? That is unfortunate. I wonder if he had time to tell the other Praetorians about it. Vanguard didn't pick up any such comminique, but Chimera has some undetectable communication methods.
Part Two: Check on the scanners
Damn, it looks like Chimera was able to get a signal off before you defeated him. All the scanners in Praetoria just died. We need to send you back to that forest and see what happened. It might be a jammer, or it might be that they destroyed them all.
If Emperor Cole is planning something big, we can't be blindsided. If the scanners are being jammed, find the source and unjam it. If they are destroyed or disabled, finish the job so they don't get their hands on any tech they might have left behind.
I'd say those scanners are more trouble than they were worth, but they've kept us aprised of the situation in Praetoria for weeks.
Unnecessary Solicitation
We still don't know what's going on why all those data scanners went dead. Character, go find out!
Mission Objective(s)
No signs of any jamming signals. Looks like the scanners themselves have been compromised. Destroy them all.
- Check on the Dimensional Scanners
- Destroy the scanners! (Four scanners to destroy)
With the scanners destroyed, the Praetorians will not be able to reverse engineer them. One scanner could not be located however, it was simply... gone.
Enemies
A scanner is missing
There were five scanners in Praetoria, but only four could be located and destroyed. One of them is missing.
Debriefing
One scanner was missing? It's bound to show up sooner or later, and we'll have to deal with it. I hate the fact that we are blind to Praetoria right about now.
Part Three: Go to Praetoria and destroy the stolen scanner
- Go to Praetoria and destroy the stolen scanner
Those scanners were built with state of the art technology. There's no telling what the Praetorians can learn from it.
Unnecessary Solicitation
We can not let that scanner fall into enemy hands!
Mission Objective(s)
- Defeat Praetorians, destroy stolen scanner
- Defeat Nightstar

- Elite Resistance Fighter: That's right. TWO pounds. Went from zero to - boooom! - TWO!
Debriefing
Excellent. We've destroyed all the scanners we've deployed to Praetoria. That is a huge relief. We had some tech in there that would be extremely dangerous in the hands of Neuron or Anti-Matter.
Part Four: Destroy all evidence of Vanguard's software
Briefing
Looks like I spoke too soon. Even though you destroyed all the scanners on Praetoria, Neuron got his hands on Vanguard's communication software. That's got a collapsing algorithm that he can use to piggy-back on our communications channels like we were doing to theirs, and that's not good. We need to get to Neuron's mainframe and remove all traces of that software. Vanguard is willing to offer up one of their best, Serpent Drummer, to assist in this mission. I am getting the coordinates to Neuron's lab now.
- Destroy all evidence of Vanguard's software
In Neuron's hands, that software is extremely dangerous. Purge every copy you can find.
Unnecessary Solicitation
Every second you waste is a day of research to a speedster like Neuron.

Upon Defeat:
- Bobcat: You can't stop Praetor Berry! He is already getting what he needs from that software!
- Serpent Drummer: I wonder if Neuron was further ahead than we thought? We should go see Tina Macintyre to and see if she has any ideas on what your next move might be.
Bobcat's final words
Bobcat mentioned that Praetor Berry, aka Neuron, was already using parts of Vanguard's code to get what he needs. You have no idea what that is though.
Go to Tina Macintyre with the information you have
Mission Objective(s)
- Go to Tina Macintyre with the information you have
Unnecessary Solicitation
Tina helped Vanguard put that software on those scanners, go talk to her.
Briefing
Bobcat mentioned that Neuron was already using the software? Hmm, our communication channels might already be compromised. If I were you I'd portal directly into Neuron's HQ and stop whatever insane plan he has cooked up. We don't have time to piece together exactly what he might be doing. I am going to call Maria Jenkins and see if she'll send one of her personal friends along to help.

Debriefing
I am worried about what Neuron meant. If Emperor Cole is planning something, we defintely don't need it to be a surprise. Positron tells me he has the entire Freedom Phalanx on ready-alert and investigating this matter as well.
Part Five: Investigate Warrior Earth
Briefing
I really wonder what Emperor Cole has up his sleeves. I mean, I want to think we stopped whatever plan he had cooked up, but I have a bad feeling that we may have just accelerated his time table.
Statesman has been doing some of his own investigation and believes that there is a clue to Cole's plan somewhere on Warrior Earth, the place where Battle Maiden and Valkyrie got their powers. He wants you to meet him there so he can assist your investigation.
- Go to Warrior Earth and meet Statesman.

Briefing
Back again, Character? What have we here? A Dimensional Resonator, let me take a look. It seems to be a scrambler set to disrupt the types of scanners we were spying on Praetoria with. I wonder why they were setting this up on Warrior Earth though?
We've got coordinates to Battle Maiden's lair. Perhaps you can persuade her to talk, give a reason why her minions were on Warrior Earth setting these up.

Battle Maiden's banter
In the fight with Battle Maiden, she revealed that Emperor Cole was planning an attack on Primal Earth, possibly using other dimensions as staging areas.
Debriefing
Using other dimensions as staging grounds, eh? Doing that gives them even more of an edge against us. We're going to need to check out other dimensions that the Praetorians have access to.
Part Six: Save Portal Corporation
Briefing
Tina Macintyre and I were looking up those other dimensions that the Praetorians frequent. Nightstar has that nighttime dimension, and Black Swan has that version of the Shadow Shard she created. Tina said she opened a portal to Shadow World and a whole slew of those living shadow minions of Black Swan's streamed out. They are all over Portal Corporation causing all sorts of destruction and panic. I need you to get over there A.S.A.P. and stop those Shadows!

Part Seven: Go into the Shadow World
Briefing
Positron called me. He wants to go with you to the Shadow World to determine exactly what Tyrant's, I mean Emperor Cole's, plan is. Go see Tina Macintyre, I'm giving her the heads up that you are both headed over there.
Shadow Earth is Black Swan's personal dimension. She created it using similar methods that the Midnight Squad created the Shadow Shard to imprison Rulaaru.
- Talk to Tina Macintyre about going to the Shadow World
Positron's already on his way, you'd best not be late.
Unnecessary Solicitation
Tina just called. She's waiting for you.
Talk to Tina Macintyre
Mission Objective(s)

Mission Objective(s)
Positron should have met you as you arrived. Something is wrong.
- Meet up with Positron
- Look for clues
- Defeat Black Swan
Black Swan's shadows have overpowered and taken Positron, for what purpose you do not know.
Editor's Note:
This mission takes place in The Chantry, with the player arriving in the Bastion of Shame neighborhood. Players will find it difficult to navigate this map without the Flight travel power or a Jetpack.
The one and only clue (a portal) will be found in the Chantry proper (the big ball at the end of the map); which is where the player will also find Black Swan.

Combat Start:
- Black Swan: You will not interfere!
Debriefing
Positron is gone?! If he's in the hands of Tyrant again, I don't know what I'd do. We need to get him back!
Part Eight: Find Positron
Briefing
Penelope Yin thinks that Mother Mayhem's insanity may be behind Positron's abduction. On Praetoria, Praetor Tilman, 'Mother', runs the Mother of Mercy Psychiatric Hospital. That is her public facing headquarters. Her nasty side shows up in her secret asylum. If they are going to try to pry secrets out of Marcus' brain, they'd do it there. Sister Psyche wants to team up with you and take down that asylum. She'll meet you on the other side of the portal.
- Search the asylum with Penelope Yin
Positron and I used to adventure together, you know. If the Praetorians have done anything to him, they'll have me to deal with.

- Mother Mayhem: No... I do not...!
- Penelope Yin: Thanks for letting me lend a hand in taking Mother Mayhem down, Character!
Debriefing
I hate being one step behind like this.
Part Nine: Find Positron
Briefing
Diabolique is Emperor Cole's personal ghost. She's bound to him and has no free will of her own, if she's involved then Emperor Cole is defintely pulling the strings. The Praetorian Infernal acts as her bodyguard on occassion, if they have Positron, it's going to be a tough fight. I need you to get to Infernal's Lair and see if they have him.
Infernal keeps his lair in the tunnels system under Praetoria. You'll likely encounter Resistance as well, and they tend to shoot first and ask questions later.
- Search Infernal's lair for any sign of Positron
Positron is one of the greatest heroes I have ever met, and I've made the acquaintance of quite a few.
I'll call around and try to get you some backup.
Unnecessary Solicitation
Positron may be in Infernal's torture chamber right this minute.
Mission Objective(s)
You can't tell in this light, but it's possible that the walls are stained with blood.

Part Ten: Rescue Positron from Marauder and Dominatrix

I'm working the Vanguard angle that Infernal hinted at, but we need to get Positron out of Dominatrix and Marauder's clutches. One of the Freedom Phalanx will meet you in Praetorian Earth to help you rescue Statesman.
- Go to Praetoria and rescue Positron
Vanguard and I will work out the other half of this while you do the hard work.

- Dominatrix: I've been to your world, it needs a bit more Emperor Cole in my opinion!
Hyper Advanced Clockwork
You came across a realistic copy of Positron, but it wasn't finished being programmed yet. It seems that this copy was going to be used to infiltrate Primal Earth and get Vanguard to lower their defenses in preparation of a massive invasion. Stopping this plot now has probably saved Primal Earth from all-out war at this time.
Debriefing
Excellent work, uncovering that Hyper Advanced Clockwork before it could infiltrate probably saved all of Paragon City and maybe even the entire planet. One last thing to do is find the real Positron and I think I know just where he might be.
The Final Chapter: Rescue Positron
A few years back when we first uncovered Praetoria, Statesman, rest his soul, was kidnapped by Tyrant and held in bonds. We had a theory that Statesman and Tyrant were nearly identical and that lead us to believe that Statesman was powerless to their technology. What a load of bunk that turned out to be! We thought those bonds held him because of that theory, but we recently deduced that those bonds themselves are powered by the Praetorian Well of the Furies. They are the only thing in the multi-verse that can hold an Incarnate like Statesman, which means poor Positron is powerless against it!
If Emperor Cole is keeping Positron alive, he'll have him in those exact same bonds. It's the only way he can keep him from escaping. If that's truly the case, we know exactly where to portal you in to save him.
I doubt Emperor Cole will show his face at this point, but the guards he will have placed will be very powerful. Good luck.
Unnecessary Solicitation
Paragon City needs Positron, Character! And Positron needs you!

Olympian Guard Dialogue
Before Combat:
- Olympian Guard: Emperor Cole has me here to ensure that you never leave this place.
Combat Start:
- Olympian Guard: Positron will never be freed! Emperor Cole demands it!
Upon Defeat:
- Positron: Thank you, Character. I trust that you stopped that Clockwork version of me? I think we've not been taking the Praetorian threat serious enough. It's time to change that.
Debriefing
You did it, Character! Positron has been rescued! Character, I don't think I've ever been so proud!
Positron sent his early prototype armor to you. He believes that you were insturmental in stopping a Praetorian invasion, something he and the Freedom Phalanx couldn't have done without your lead. Positron isn't careless with his praise, Character; it seems pretty clear to me that he thinks the world of you.
Completing this mission awards the badge Positron's Pal.
Missions
Battle the Praetorian threat
Editor's Note:
This is usually the first mission that you receive from Maria.
Mission Acceptance
Your first task is to prevent the villain Infernal from summoning more demons to bind within his spectral armor. I need you to get to Infernal's lair and destroy his summoning altar.
Unnecessary Solicitation
You've got to prevent Infernal from summoning more demons!
Mission Objective(s)

- Defeat Infernal & his guards

Combat start:
- Demon Lord: You will ruin everything!
After defeating demon:
- Sacrificial victim: Oh, thank you! Thank you!
Debriefing
I think they've sent me the right hero for this job, Character. In one mighty effort, you crippled the armies of Infernal, one of the biggest threats the Praetorians have to offer. I've got many more jobs like this for you, and not one of them is going to be easy. But I'm beginning to believe that you'll see them through to the finish.
Run a patrol for Warwork activity
Briefing
Tyra-, err 'Emperor Cole' has taken to sending scouts of his Warworks robots into Peregrine Island recently. I need you to run a patrol sweep, tagging the patrol boxes as you go, to check for any Warwork incursions.
- Run a patrol for Warwork activity
If you see anything, and I mean anything, we need to know about it.
Unnecessary Solicitation
You haven't completed that patrol yet.
Mission Objective(s)
- Patrol, watch for Warworks
You have ensured Peregrine Island's safety.
Debriefing
Thanks for doing your part to keep Peregrine Island safe. Make no mistake about it, if the Praetorians ever manage to mount an invasion, Peregrine Island will be ground zero. It's up to heroes like you to make sure they can't get a foothold on the area.
Take down Chimera at his training facility
Briefing
Chimera. Manticore's evil twin as it were. He's just as big a mystery in Praetoria as he is on this world, but a woman named Belladonna knows exactly where to find him. Turns out she used to be one of his assassins, but now she's part of the Resistance. We can portal you in directly into the training facility and you can take down Chimera and drag him back here for incarceration. Simple job, but he is extremely deadly, so bring some help.
- Take down Chimera at his training facility
Chimera's ninjas are stealthy and smart. You'll have to be the same if you want to succeed.
Unnecessary Solicitation
That training facility was still in operation last time I checked.
Mission Objective(s)
Chimera's training facility is hidden away in this forgotten graveyard.
- Defeat Chimera & his guards
You defeated Chimera.
Enemies
Notable NPCs
Editor's Note:
Chimera is always located on the central plateau. Defeating Chimera alone without defeating his guards (except perhaps the one immediately next to him) is sufficient to complete the mission.
Ambush! You will be attacked by three waves of Cockatrice after defeating Chimera.
- Chimera has been felled!
Chimera dialogue
Before Combat
- Always remember, it is not just skill I teach you. It is a way of life.
Combat Start
- Your strength cannot compete with my skill!
Debriefing
That ninja camp you shut down was one of Praetorian Earth's best facilities for churning out smart, well-trained troops. With it gone, we can all breathe a little easier. We've got Chimera contained as best we can in the Zig. Some days I wish we could go back to the Cold Storage method of containing the really awful villains. It kept Reichsman off the street for the longest time.
Stop Mother Mayhem
Briefing
Sister Psyche's Praetorian counterpart is called Praetor Tilman by those who back Cole's regime, and Mother Mayhem by those who oppose it. The reason I'm telling you this is that SHE'S ATTACKING PARAGON CITY RIGHT NOW!
Sorry, I'm in sort of panic mode right this second. She's over in Waxahachie Business Park with a whole slew of those creepy Seers and IDF soldiers. I don't know what her ultimate plan is, but she's definitely up to something to come to our world. I need you to get to that business park and take her down. You are our best hope in stopping whatever she has cooked up.
You'll need to take the Monorail to get to Waxahachie Park. Remember, Mother Mayhem's Seers are brainwashed psychics from Praetoria. Most of them don't even know a life outside of being one of her psychic puppets.
Unnecessary Solicitation
Waxahachie Park is still in the grip of Mother Mayhem and her Seers!
Mission Objective(s)
Upon exiting the monorail you have a splitting headache.
You defeated Mother Mayhem.

- Such an untapped wellspring of psychic potential!
Combat Start
- Your mind will be delicious, Character!
Debriefing
Wow, Tilman must be desperate to come to Primal Earth looking for more psychics. I'll have to let the Resistance there know they are putting a dent in her armor. They need some good news right about now.
Prevent Shadowhunter's resurrection
Briefing
A while back we had intel on a Praetorian version of Woodsman called Shadowhunter. It seems that the Praetorian version's fate has caught up to that of his Primal counterpart and he's now dead. Killed by the Devouring Earth that rule the areas outside of Praetoria. Unfortunately this man killed tons of people and left their bodies strewn throughout the forests, unconsecrated. Because of his nature, these bodies have the ability to resurrect him and he'll be a threat once again. I need you to go to Shadowhunter's former lair and consecrate the bodies strewn about there. Doing this will keep him dead a little while longer. Watch out for the Devouring Earth, they are just as vicious, if not moreso, in Praetoria.
- Go to Shadowhunter's lair and consecrate the bones
This may be a tactical strike, but it's also a mission of mercy. You'll be freeing many trapped and miserable spirits.
Unnecessary Solicitation
I need you to get to Shadowhunter's lair and consecrate those bone
Here's a bottle of holy water. Use it sparingly, Character; from what I understand, Shadowhunter has many victims.
Holy Water
This flask of water has been blessed by Father Hanrahan, one of Paragon City's many priests. By sprinkling it over the bones of Shadowhunter's victims, you can weaken the villain's power.
Mission Objective(s)
Shadowhunter dared to live out among the Devouring Earth. It was only a matter of time before he was caught and killed.
- Prevent Shadowhunter's ressurection
You consecrated the bones of Shadowhunter's victims, preventing his ressurection.

Debriefing
Good work, Character. We need to do this occassionally to prevent Shadowhunter's resurrection. I will seek out a more permanent solution.
Cut off Black Swan's source of power
Black Swan is somewhat of an enigma. A few years back she was a major player in Praetoria, but her power seems to have waned in the meantime. It is apparent that Emperor Cole has a stranglehold on the Magic of Praetoria, so Black Swan is taking whatever she can get. She seems to strengthen her power by visits to an alternate dimension known as the Shadow World. We need you to go to the Shadow World and find out what she is doing to keep her power, and take her down if possible. Cutting off her power supply will deal a huge blow to the Praetorian power base.
- Cut off Black Swan's source of power
She's doing something to gain more power, we just need to determine what.
Unnecessary Solicitation
I need you to stop whatever it is Black Swan is doing.
Mission Objective(s)
Shadow Earth eerily resembles the Shadow Shard.
- Defeat Black Swan, find her power source
You defeated Black Swan and recovered one of her powerful quills.

Quill of Jocas
The Praetorian version of the Dagger of Jocas, which was used by the Midnight Squad to imprison Rularuu by creating the Shadow Shard. Each quill is able to sever the shadow essence of a living being which can then be taken to Shadow Earth where Black Swan absorbs it, renewing her power.
Black Swan dialogue
Before Combat
- Yes, give me more power!
Combat Start:
- You are too late, Character. Jocas has severed the shadows and I have basked in their essence. And now you die!
Debriefing
So it seems that the Dagger of Jocas is different in Praetoria and Black Swan got her hands on the Quills of Jocas? I assume that's how she made the Shadow World, which resembles the Shadow Shard that the Midnight Squad made with the Dagger. She must absorb the shadows of her victims to power herself and create her minions at the same time. Excellent work, Character!
Stop Diabolique before she enslaves the spirits of the graveyard
Briefing
In Praetoria there is a ghost who goes by the name of Diabolique, and is their version of our very own Numina. We have learned that she has no free will of her own, and is completely controlled by Emperor Cole, bound by some mystic artifact. We do know that she roams around the Magisterium in Praetoria on a nightly basis, and that could be an excellent opportunity to launch a surprise attack. I am going to portal you directly into the heart of the beast, the Magisterium Plaza where you will have only 30 minutes to locate and defeat Diabolique. Fail to do so and we will lose our chance to take her down for now. Are you up to the task?
- Stop Diabolique before she enslaves the spirits of the graveyard
It's hard to believe that Numina's alternate self can be so evil.
Unnecessary Solicitation
If you don't hurry, Diabolique will bind those poor spirits to her forever!
Mission Objective(s)
You are going to need to move swiftly if you want to avoid the Praetorian Guard being summoned to bring you down.
You defeated Diabolique.

Diabolique dialogue
Before Combat
- Come forth, and be my slaves!
Combat Start
- You will not cheat me of my servants!
Debriefing
Diabolique's essence has been suppressed, but for how long? You were incredibly brave Character, you went to the Magisterium itself and survived!
Stop the battle between Malaise and the Rikti
Briefing
One thing that Praetoria has no counterpart to our world with is the Rikti. Since the Rikti are not from outer space but from another dimension, they could have just as easily invaded Praetoria as here, and the Rikti can only invade one dimension at any given time, get it?
Yeah it's kinda complicated I know, but eventually you wrap your head around this stuff.
The reason I bring this up is because Malaise, the Praetorian one- not our version, seems to be waging a war against the Rikti right in our sewer networks. I'd like you to go into the sewers, find Malaise and put a stop to whatever plan he's cooked up. Whatever it is, it can't be good for Paragon City.
- Stop the battle between Malaise and the Rikti
Malaise is the thrall of Mother Mayhem, so expect a heavy Seer presence in the sewers.
Unnecessary Solicitation
With all the gas pipes running through that sewer annex, you're courting disaster by letting that battle continue.
Mission Objective(s)
The maddened screams of tortured Rikti echo off the stone walls.
- Defeat Malaise
- 4 drug stashes to confiscate
- Defeat Malaise
You stopped the battle in the sewers.

Malaise dialogue
Before Combat
- All is as planned!
Combat Start
- Don't toy with me, Character!
Debriefing
The Praetorian version of Malaise is one twisted individual. I shudder to think if that could have been our Malaise if Sister Psyche hadn't gotten to him first.
Take down the WarWorks
Briefing
Intel keeps rolling in on the Praetorians. They have an analogue of Citadel named Siege who oversees their Imperial Clockwork maintenance. We've got word that he's currently outside the City Maintenance Facility and overseeing some final prep on what they are calling 'WarWorks'. It could be a trap to draw out the Resistance and powerful heroes like yourself, but I think you can handle whatever they are throwing your way. Siege used to have a body that was similar to Citadel's, but he long since abandonded it once the new model Clockwork bodies came online. Now he hops from shell to shell for whatever he feels is appropriate for the job at hand. I need you to go in and destroy any and all WarWorks you find, including Siege if possible, and disable any power generators they have in the area.
My sources have informed me that the facility has several power generators you'll need to disable.
And if those WarWorks really are as powerful as intel suggest, I'd bring along some friends as well.
Unnecessary Solicitation
If Siege isn't destroyed we've got a real problem on our hands.
Mission Objective(s)
Taking dimensional portals sometimes leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
- Defeat Siege and all Warworks
You disabled Siege and his Warworks.
Enemies
Notable NPCs
Editor's Note:
Be aware that while fighting Siege players will be attacked by the Warworks Orbital Lance: "the most powerful weapon in the Warwalker's arsenal. It is capable of obliterating most targets in a single shot. However, it is easy enough to avoid." Siege also has significant 'spikes' of regeneration and can be quite difficult to defeat.
Siege dialogue
Before Combat:
- Primal incursion detected.
Debriefing
You've put a serious crimp in Siege's production. These Warworks seem very powerful, I shudder to think what they will ultimately be used for.
Defeat Dominatrix and confiscate the Fixadine
Briefing
Today I've got a chance for you to not only strike the Praetorians, but also do some good for this world. I've received word that the villain Dominatrix is having a rave in a warehouse on Praetorian Earth. Her guests will be enjoying all the most extravagant debauchments Praetorian Earth has to offer, including a drug called Fixadine. Sound familiar? That's because it's the Praetorian version of Superadine. I need you to defeat Dominatrix and confiscate the Fixadine. Can you do it?
- Defeat Dominatrix and confiscate the Fixadine
Fixadine and Superadine have some subtle molecular differences. Dr. Steve Sheridan believes he can use the Fixadine in his ongoing efforts to cure the Trolls of their Superadine-induced mutations. Once you've got the drug, get it over to him.
Defeat Dominatrix & her minions
Unnecesary Solicitation
I need you to take out Dominatrix and return with some Fixadine.
Mission Objective(s)
The sound system booms out a crazy punk beat.
- Defeat Dominatrix & her minions
You defeated Dominatrix and confiscated her Fixadine.
Enemies
Notable NPCs
Fixadine
This Praetorian drug is quite similar to your world's Superadine, but there are certain subtle molecular differences. These differences could help Dr. Steven Sheridan isolate the components of Superadine that turn its users into Trolls.
Dominatrix dialogue
Before Combat
- Who wishes to be the next to serve me?
Combat Start
- No one violates my dungeon! Clap Character in irons!
Take Fixadine to Dr. Sheridan
Unnecessary Solicitation
Dr. Sheridan is waiting on that Fixadine.
Mission Objective(s)
- Take Fixadine to Dr. Sheridan
Briefing
Ah, the Fixadine. Good. This should help my Superadine studies tremendously. Thank you, Character.
Debriefing
Great job, Character. Just terrific. Not only did you do something good for science, you also weakened Dominatrix's hold over her minions. Dominatrix leads through the strength of her personality and her followers' blind faith. Now that you've made her look weak before them, I doubt it'll be easy for her to maintain her position.
Go activate Battle Maiden's obelisk
Briefing
The Praetorian known as Battle Maiden is the counterpart to our very own Valkyrie. They both derive their power from the weapons strapped to their backs, weapons which came from an alternate dimension known as 'Warrior Earth'. We know that Battle Maiden is currently on Warrior Earth, but getting to that dimension is a bit tricky. She has in her lair an obelisk that when activated will give us the window we need to open a Portal to Warrior Earth. I need you to get to that obelisk and activate it, then get back here and we can get you to Warrior Earth.
- Go activate Battle Maiden's obelisk
Battle Maiden's guards all come from Warrior Earth, not Praetoria.
Defeat Battle Maiden on Warrior Earth
Unnecessary Solicitation
We need to get to Warrior Earth.
Mission Objective(s)
The dampness of the cavern walls tells you you're deep within the Earth.
The obelisk has been activated, report to Tina Macintyre.
Enemies
Praetorian's dialogue
Champion of Mourning 1: Battle Maiden has made her departure.
Champion of Mourning 2: Excellent. We have need of new troops.
Take stone to Tina Macintyre
Unnecessary Solicitation
Tina Macintyre needs to be informed that a portal can now be opened.
Mission Objective(s)
- Take stone to Tina Macintyre
Briefing
Maria phoned me and told me you'd be here to have me open a portal to Warrior Earth. We've been trying to do so but some sort of barrier was preventing the portal from working. However, just mintues ago something changed that allowed the portal to open. Your doing I suppose?
Defeat Battle Maiden & her guards
Unnecessary Solicitation
Battle Maiden can't be allowed to swell her army! She's already dangerous enough as it is!
Mission Objective(s)
It looks like Warrior Earth has seen better days.
- Defeat Battle Maiden & her guards
- Destroy the last weapons!
You defeated Battle Maiden.
Enemies
Notable NPCs
Battle Maiden dialogue
Before Combat
- Take these weapons and use them in my service.
Combat Start
- Do not interfere!
Debriefing
By destroying those weapons, you upset Battle Maiden's delicate negotiations. I think it's safe to say that Warrior Earth won't be sending any more troops her way, at least for a while. From what we can tell of that world's warriors, not one of them wants to join up with a losing team.
