Overview

Portal Corporation Pamphlet is a tip contact that offers Tour Guide Missions in Peregrine Island.

Introduction

Portal Corp Analyst

Exploration Mission

This sleek-looking pamphlet provides all kinds of fascinating information on Portal Corp's activities and discoveries. They have been in the news a lot lately. As the list of extradimensional threats continues to grow, the science of portal technology becomes more important than ever.

Their Peregrine Island facility stands as the last bastion between our world and the infinite beyond. The career path of many heroes eventually leads them here, to become the greatest defenders of Earth.

  • Delve into the science of Peregrine Island.
  • Portal onto another topic..

Too Busy

The scope and importance of Peregrine Island's role in Paragon City makes you decide to finish some of your current tasks first so you can explore it without distraction.

No More Missions

You flip through different pages in the pamphlet. This resource has been exhausted and you are feeling pretty confident on the topics of Peregrine Island, Portal Corp, and their importance to the future.

Missions

Portal Parter

Briefing

A curious historical blurb that catches your eye:
"A former Portal Corp R&D facility located south of the main island was shut down due to health and safety concerns."

This just seems odd to you, there is nothing in that area that would fit the description of an abandoned research lab. You decide to investigate the validity of the claim since something does not add up.

  • Find the Portal Parter lab.

After asking a few locals, they are not quite sure as to what you are referring to. Being shown the excerpt from the pamphlet does not help either. They are certain the few islets to the south have never had any major development on them.

Was that historical note just Portal Corp propaganda?

Mission Objective

  • Locate supposed R&D site

This R&D facility suffered one too many accidents and has since fallen into ruin.

Use Might for Right

Briefing

There is an advertisement in the pamphlet from Freedom Corps. They are looking for hero volunteers to assist in the temporal anomaly called Recluse's Victory:
"Lord Recluse and his agents continue to attempt to subvert our future within the dimensional timeline. Longbow is making a stand, but our efforts alone aren't enough. Security Levels 40 and above only, please consider lending your aid!"

While you are undecided on being up to the task of challenging the Rogue Isles villains who fight on behalf of Arachnos. You can at least learn more about the situation to inform your choice.

  • Evaluate Longbow's Using Might for Right.

You start to head toward where the local recruiter has been stationed. The intensity of skirmishes between heroes and villains stands above simply fighting an organization's minions.

There is no question that you will have to ensure you are prepared before stepping forward to fight on this battlefield.

Mission Objective

  • Visit the Freedom Corps recruiter
Badge

Longbow has placed various posters in Peregrine Island to attract more powerful heroes back to Atlas Park for the fight against Recluse. They have plenty of fresh heroes looking to join the fight, though all of them must be turned away due to inexperience, unless they become fodder for the Arachnos Operatives that plague Recluse's Victory.

Cause for Concern

Briefing

While looking through the pamphlet you notice a photo of a rather strict-looking military checkpoint present in the Portal Corp lobby:
"These flashy security setups are designed to make visitors understand how seriously we take safety! Rest assured, no visitors to Portal Corp are in any danger."

This is an eyebrow-raising statement to be sure; now more than ever, the public would be keenly aware of just how real interdimensional threats are. Maybe this photo is just outdated? You decide to scope out one of their buildings and confirm the current situation.

  • Verify the Cause for Concern.

At the very least, you would assume Portal Corp has improved both the control and security of their dimensional gateway technology.

Surely you could just pull the power cable and stop any concerning visitors from invading our world, right? ...Or is that not how it works?

Mission Objective

  • Witness Portal Corp security checkpoint

Visitors to Portal Corp are usually a little concerned when they see these defensive outposts put up near the elevators down to the portals. Tour guides insist they are "just for show", though the occasional "all clear" heard from military radios nearby doesn't help much.

Genetically Altered

Briefing

There have been numerous news reports about giant skeletal discoveries in Peregrine Island that have been concerning in nature. There is a blurb about it in the pamphlet:
"Any paleontological discoveries in the area should be reviewed by the authorities. Inconclusive reports have suggested that these may in fact be evidence of illegal genetic experiments."

This sounds really interesting, but also potentially terrifying. A handful of locals have mentioned these bizarre finds were routinely pulled out of the Cutlass Isles before they declared the whole region off-limits. Finding some for yourself would prove quite the experience, so you decide to embark on this expedition.

  • Excavate something Genetically Altered.

There have been no reports of anything massive ever being seen amongst the northern isles (except for the monster-class Devouring Earth nearby).

One cannot help but be curious what the odd creatures must have looked like alive. Perhaps that is a question best left unanswered...

Mission Objective

  • Unearth some dinosaur(?) bones
Badge
Genetically Altered (-1511.5, 0.0, -6336.5)[Copy]

Scientists still aren't sure what exactly these massive bones belong to. Crey refuses to comment, claiming that the bones are from ancient dinosaurs, though paleontologists refute the claim, saying it looks like no dinosaur they have on record. Despite a lack of evidence, signs point to some sort of genetic shenanigans on Crey's part.

Rikti Gone Wild

Briefing

The informational fold-out also includes some safety warnings regarding one of the northern isles:
"Paragon City officials have currently designated Cutlass Isle as an off-limits zone. Large hosts of Rikti bioweapons are rampant throughout the island and its facilities. While the causes behind the current situation are unclear, investigations are on-going."

Sounds like something unethical quickly spiraled out of control. What exactly happened here, and why? There is an intense desire to brave the peril and search for answers.

  • Brave the Rikti Gone Wild.

Time to be on point; a careless mistake will likely end with an immediate Medi-Porter trip to the local Peregrine Island hospital.

Alas, inquiring minds must push forward. Some may claim it's much too perilous, but they've got to let you face the peril!

Mission Objective

  • Face the perils on Cutlass Isle

Rikti Gone Wild (-2893.0, 0.0, -6950.0)[Copy]

The horde of Rikti Monkeys on Monster Island seems to have been confined to this area, supposedly by Crey. Investigations into what exactly went wrong have been going on for some time. Many suspect that the Devouring Earth assaulted the island, destroying the barriers put in place to keep the Rikti in.

Shades of Arachnos

Briefing

You read a notice in the pamphlet:
"Due to Peregrine Island's accessibility to the sea, Portal Corp and the local Paragon Police Department urge any signs of local Arachnos activity to be reported immediately to the nearest authorities."

With the Rogue Isles just a pond-skip away you are none too surprised over the concerns of vulnerability here. Perhaps a quick patrol of the northern perimeter is in order to see if anything suspicious stands out...

  • Perceive any Shades of Arachnos.

With how much important work is done on Peregrine Island, you imagine Lord Recluse's spiders take great interest in the lucrative prizes they might pillage within.

However, they would likely be operating under extreme caution, as the population density of powerful heroes in this area is also particularly high.

Mission Objective

  • Scout for any Arachnos activity
Badge

You could swear that you just saw a submarine off the coast of this island...but it's gone now. It was probably just your imagination.

All-Seeing

Briefing

Stapled to the back of the pamphlet is a rather desperate-looking advertisement for tenants to rent out space in their local apartment building. It claims that "despite ridiculous rumors of privacy-invading surveillance" all their offered suites are entirely secure.

After asking a couple pedestrians, it appears there is some kind of strange statue that sours the location's prospects substantially. Hmm, another "weird" statue in this city. Looks like it is time to go scope it out, this trend is fascinating.

  • Confront All-Seeing statue.

Apparently this odd statue is located awfully close to the property and exudes the sense that it is peeking at the building's residents.

It must be excessively awful if it is damaging the apartments' ability to find tenants; you can't wait to see it!

Mission Objective

  • Investigate cause of vacant apartments
Badge
All-Seeing (-712.0, 56.0, -2142.0)[Copy]

Tenants on the top floor in the apartment building have constantly complained that the nearby hero statue makes them feel uneasy. Many say it feels as if someone is constantly watching them. A former tenant claimed to see some sort of video camera in the eyes of the statue, though city officials deny this claim as 'unsubstantiated.'

Dark Omen

Briefing

There is a red-zone printed on the map with a warning:
"Tempest Quay has numerous confirmed sightings of greater Devouring Earth. How the creatures have come to inhabit these islets is pending investigation. Civilian traffic is strictly prohibited."

There are monster-class Devouring Earth this close to Peregrine Island? That is a concerning sign, given the relative distance from any of the Hamidon's other major bastions. How exactly did they get a foothold out here?

This worry motivates you to venture out and gauge the potential danger lurking nearby.

  • Witness the Dark Omen.

There is no Devouring Earth presence that can be overlooked. Even a small concentration of the creatures can rapidly multiply and consume everything nearby. This saying nothing of the power of the monster-class variants...

Peregrine Island best be careful with this looming threat, lest the situation quickly grow out of control.

Mission Objective

  • Gauge the dangers of Tempest Quay

These battered bones are all that remains of a foolhardy adventurer who sought to explore this island full of monsters. No one has tried to identify them, as the people of Peregrine Island are too terrified of this island to even go near it.
