Overview

WEB Schematics is a tip contact that offers Tour Guide Missions in Grandville.

Introduction

Eye on Arachnos

Exploration Mission

There is not a place in Grandville that does not afford you a generous view of the massive WEB system spreading out from Lord Recluse's citadel watchtower. At the seat of Arachnos' power, the spiders work tirelessly in the construction of their superstructure.

What exactly the WEB's purpose is, you cannot quite glean from looking at these pilfered schematics. They do, however, include some interesting details on various aspects of Spider City and beyond that could be worth having at your disposal.

  • Explore the spider's WEB in Grandville.
  • Don't get tangled up right now.

Too Busy

Maneuvering within Arachnos' mightiest stronghold may prove time consuming. You think it best to wrap-up some of your pressing tasks beforehand.

No More Missions

There is nothing left on the schematic that you can comprehend. It has served its purpose, as you are now quite familiar with the ins and outs of Grandville.

Missions

Overlord

Briefing

The immaculate system being assembled atop Spider City is impressively comprehensive. Almost every structural component of Grandville serves some functional purpose in the WEB's sinister design. Even the outer wall's fortifications serve dual functions. They seem to house some manner of particle condenser. They also, quite obviously, serve as walls that keep undesirables out.

The entire island is surrounded by war-torn beaches reminiscent of Normandy. Despite the endless efforts of those who challenge Arachnos, that line has held. Touring the beaches reminds you who is in control here.

  • Remember who is the Overlord here.

You concede that to establish an empire where the capital sits exposed on all sides to the open sea, you would need an impregnable fortress like this.

It is certainly a task that Arachnos was up to achieving, as Grandville's fortifications are unparalleled. It eclipses other impressive installations such as the Council's base on Striga Isle or Nerva Archipelago's Agincourt stronghold.

Mission Objective

  • Patrol beaches outside Spider City

You've visited the beach outside the Grandville city walls, where Lord Recluse viciously repelled an invasion of Longbow landing craft.

Sewer Dweller

Briefing

You have spent an unfortunate amount of time in various sewers. It seems to be the low-budget go-to for villain hideaways. That might be trickier in Grandville, as the schematic notes that the Gutter are thoroughly infested by Arachnoids. These sewers are utilized to channel water that serves as coolant/flush for various components hidden underground.

There also seems to be a web of hidden passages into various Arachnos compounds, which likely explains the aforementioned Arachnoid problem. Having these passages memorized as escape routes for contingency options is a solid play.

  • Enduring wading as a Sewer Dweller.

Many in your place hope that someday they reach a position to never have to set foot inside a sewer again. The smell is intolerable on a good day and washing the raw sewage out of your outfits usually requires taking them somewhere that specializes in deep cleaning.

Sadly, as hands-on as you like to operate, this will likely be an inevitable reality of your schemes.

Mission Objective

  • Tolerate mapping Gutter sewers

A new low, even for a villain, you've stumbled through the very very bottom of Grandville in the area known as 'The Gutter.'

Guttersnipe

Briefing

The WEB schematic mentions that should the construction require it, Arachnos personnel have full authority to simply sweep away all the slums and ghettos that have accumulated in the Gutter. Arachnos will tolerate not a single delay to the estimates projected for completion.

It comes as no surprise that the unfortunate who have gathered within the accurately dubbed 'Hobo Row' are regarded as grime that has attached themselves to the underside of Lord Recluse's throne. Their mistreatment and disgruntled frustrations could be leveraged should the situation call for it. To this end, you should establish yourself within this community.

  • Claim advantages of being a Guttersnipe.

The discarded and disheveled are often forgotten pieces on the game board. Their numbers afford them a surprising amount of potential power if spurred to action at just the opportune moment.

Unfortunately, the outlook of pawns being played in such a manner is often unfavorable.

Mission Objective

  • Establish yourself within Gutter slums

Life at the bottom is rough, and after visiting Hobo Row in the Grandville's Gutter you can agree.

Master of the Airwaves

Briefing

The schematics mention that the massive tower at the core of the Tangle also functions as an incredibly powerful radio beacon.

You review the specs compiled in this document. It would appear the effective communication range would easily cover the entirety of both the Rogue Isles and Paragon City, allowing for Lord Recluse to issue commands to his Arachnos operatives from literally anywhere they might be lurking.

Perhaps this is a bit childish, but tall things exist to be climbed and as such, have an inescapable urge to scale the monolithic structure...

  • Assert dominance over the Airwaves.

You are not able to place exactly why, but standing atop any building that reaches into the sky is immensely satisfying. Looking down at the world below, it is a view that is afforded to only those who can make the climb.

There is no small satisfaction taken in how your capabilities make these sights available to you.

Mission Objective

  • Scale Grandville central tower

Top of the world! You have climbed to the top of the radio tower in Grandville.

Passing Fab

Briefing

While perusing the schematic and find yourself questioning the logistical arrangements that make this massive undertaking possible. These enormous components must be manufactured somewhere locally and then transported to Grandville's center to be added into the WEB's assembly.

You seriously doubt Lord Recluse is outsourcing any elements related to his master plan, as that would leave the entire project's true purpose vulnerable. That leaves only one place on the map that could potentially house the facilities needed. Time to conduct reconnaissance.

  • Recluse's plan is no Passing Fab.

The island north of Grandville contains a subterranean facility called 'The Fab'. It is underground, and you have never seen any aerial traffic in Grandville apart from the routine Arachnos Flier patrols. Perhaps there is some sort of tunnel system running along the ocean floor that allows them to transport these materials.

This answer is the only conclusion you can reach.

Mission Objective

  • Investigate the Fab's functions

These underground tunnels are the only relatively safe way to get into the Fab. They are used as both an emergency exit from the Fab and as a method of sending in reinforcements straight from Grandville proper, should Longbow try to launch an offensive attack.

Image Crasher

Briefing

There are some notes hastily scribbled on this section of the schematic:
{blue|"I am suspending any further repairs to the display panels in the Tangle. They don't serve any critical functions currently and we've been getting bizarre reports regarding them. Some idiot even claimed he saw somebody 'get pulled inside the screen'; I sent him to medical for evaluation."}}

Worlds hidden inside of television screens? It sounds impossible, like something out of a video game. Although, after you think it over, the same could be said about half the things you have seen in your line of work. Perhaps this suspicious display panel warrants investigating after all.

  • Pursue Image Crasher screen.

You almost hope somebody was simply hallucinating from having too many slushies on the job. There would be many connotations to consider if TVs could function as other-dimensional gateways.

Well, there are already so many things beyond understanding. Another one added to that pile won't hurt.

Mission Objective

  • Inspect suspicious display screen

This large display screen fell off its holster after a particularly rough battle between Black Scorpion and Captain Mako. It was supposed to be fixed, but progress kept halting as workers became too distracted by the images on the screen.

Line Holder

Briefing

There is an Arachnos document stapled to this schematic, you pull it off and review the contents. The notification states that security on the Gutter level has been escalated at various checkpoints and patrols assigned to the catwalks above. Apparently, a delay was caused by a solitary Arachnoid managing to climb all the way up to the Tangle just to fry itself on an exposed electrical board. This has resulted in various heads rolling (given the context, you assume this to be quite literal).

The note includes a map detailing where to expect delays from the checkpoints. Nothing would sour your day faster than being detained by a group of Bane Spider soldiers. Better mark these checkpoints so you can avoid them.

  • Dodge the Line Holder.

Arachnos' response is not surprising given the damage a single missed Arachnoid caused. They really cannot be too careful or thorough in securing their operations. However, you will be damned if you have to stand in a line because of their high-tech bug zapper mishap.

Just another little moment that makes you happy to be somebody who ignores the rules.

Mission Objective

  • Scout Gutter checkpoint

Arachnos stationed here are the first line of defense against any Arachnoids trying to break out of the Gutter. Arachnoids foolish enough to attempt an attack from above ground never succeed, though it's well known that most Arachnoids utilize their own underground tunnels to travel.

Gutter Bait

Briefing

You notice an ominous sticker must have been recently applied to the corner of this schematic:
"This is a reminder that Arachnos does not provide any compensation for work-related accidents. All personnel must acknowledge that adhering to safety guidelines is your own responsibility. If you don't want to die, be careful around the ledges and catwalks."

Nice. nothing like an employer dismissing all responsibility for any work-related deaths. You hope that Lord Recluse's men at least get dental... Lack of benefits aside, you are just as prone to gravity-related death as anybody else. You will take the sticker's advice and make sure you watch your step around the catwalks.

  • Take care to avoide becoming Gutter Bait.

Despite having looked around Grandville for a while, you have not seen a single railing amongst any of the catwalks or elevated platforms. Everything seems to be a good and dangerous for anybody traveling on them.

Arachnos does not seem the least bit concerned. If anyone is dumb enough to pick a fight, a timely knockback would be a satisfying response.

Mission Objective

  • Evaluate catwalk's safety
Badge

These dangerous catwalks have resulted in a handful of Arachnos soldiers unwittingly falling into the depths of the Gutter, disappearing forever. At first, search and rescue missions were initiated to attempt to recover the missing soldiers, but were soon called off. Arachnos uses the disappearances as a valuable lesson on being alert during patrol.
